I usually struggle to finish audio books because I read so much faster than I hear it, but I didn't have that issue with this book. I listened to it in two days worth of reading, and while it is a bit shorter than I usually "read/listen" too, the story had more than enough of a storyline for me to remain interested. I will definitely get the next book in the series.
The narrator was really good, and I like that he uses different voices, inflections and accents to keep the story going along without being monotone. I will also get other books with him as the narrator because I enjoyed his so much.

Ex-Delta Force Davis Holland, now an agent for Customs and Border Protection, has seen it all. But nothing in his experience has prepared him for what he and the local sheriff find one freezing night in the Minnesota woods. Investigating reports of an illegal border crossing, the two men stumble across a blood-drenched scene of mass murder, barely escaping with their lives... and a single clue to the mayhem: a small wooden chest placed at the heart of the massacre.

I have purposely looked up books that are narrated by Will Damron so I can enjoy his telling and I am pleased with that choice. I love how he uses different voices/tones for each of the characters and how he puts the emotion of the scenes into it as well.

When the body of Hunter Gearhardt washes up on the banks of a seasonal river outside of Pomacochas, Peru, with only samples of vegetation, a handful of feathers, two black- and gray-streaked rocks, and a golden headdress of indeterminate origin in his possession, his grieving father launches an expedition to determine how his son died. The party uses these clues to divine Hunter’s route into the jungle, where they find a surviving offshoot of a primitive tribe, long thought to be extinct, and something far more sinister, something that’s been able to avoid discovery for eons for one simple reason: No one leaves the rainforest alive.

You need to be prepared to have the time to listen to this book because if you don't, you can miss important details. There are extensive details throughout the book and it's obvious that author did a lot of research into the history of the area, and just in general. The story is really well written and has a action/adventure theme, along with some of the theory behind bird evolution, almost like what was said in the movie Jurassic Park. I did really enjoy the narrator in this book, he read the story well.
