Ivanhoe is the perfect novel for any listener who loves an action-packed adventure based on the mythology and legends of Medieval times in England. Set in the 12th century, Ivanhoe is the story of a young man who joins up with Richard the Lion Hearted during a dark time where England is split between the Normans and the Saxons, pitting friends and family against each other through the conquering of land and the changing seats of the Royal Family.

Would you try another book from Walter Scott and/or David McCallion?

I could not get past chapter 6 because of the narration

How could the performance have been better?

The reading sound like a junior high school performance. There are two different character voices, old man and everything else. The emphasis on words is very random because the narrator follows a "music" that is completely unconnected with the content. I had to stop listening at chapter 6 because I could no longer concentrate on the story and only heard the repetitive up and down of the voice.
