December, 2042: The Imperial Legion marches, and war looms on the horizon. Jack Mitchel and his misfit crew of rebels never wanted a fight with the Empire, but the time for diplomacy has passed. Ruthless tech genius Robert Osmark is coming, and trailing behind him is a vast army determined to wipe the Crimson Alliance from the face of Eldgard. Impossibly, Jack has united the warring Murk Elf clans under his banner, but even with their aid, the Alliance is still badly outnumbered, and Osmark has some nasty tricks up his sleeves.

It’s been a busy month for 32-year-old Jack Mitchel: Three weeks ago, he died. Two weeks ago, he founded the first Faction in the ultra-immersive, fantasy-based VRMMORPG, Viridian Gate Online. A week and a half ago the world ended, destroyed by a cataclysmic asteroid. Seven days ago, he conquered the Imperial city of Rowanheath, bringing all of Eldgard to the brink of war.

This book was lacking quite a bit, if the price wasn't still $25 for the audiobook I probably wouldn't have as many complaints. At the end of the book, it had me thinking, is that really it? Knowing the quality of the last three books left me hoping for a similar quality, seeing the price tag had me expecting that same quality...

Warning spoiler alerts ahead!!
This guy that the author has perceived as some crazy dude shouting every day to a mostly unlistening stream of people walking past, having seen no real support around him, somehow now has the backing of this crazy powerful group of people that can take over a whole arena and all the guards for a period longer then two hours, just makes the story seem weak. Don't get me wrong, I love the story overall but this last book is disappointing. Gunner didn't use his arcane blade even once thoughout the book, even while he was fighting in an arena!?!?!? Then he didn't use his boiling blood in the last fight when he saw his low health, and it took him far too long to understand what was going on. He usually doesn't come off quite that clueless.
