They said write what you know so that's what I did. I wrote dirty, I wrote erotic, I wrote the truth. And then they called me a liar. But it's not me who's lying, it's them. Our story isn't for everyone. It's not even for us. So if you're looking for the fairy tale and the stupid prince on his dumb white horse, move along. You've got a hold of the wrong book. This is not your story, this is not your life, and this is not your opportunity to dip your frightened little toe into the dark pool of water and "try new things" and then pull it out and decide... #NotForMe.

What a convoluted story. Kinky sex that maybe did or didn’t happen? A conspiracy so evolved? Really, it just was twisty- which I can deal with- but then just ended quickly leaving way too much unanswered. No good answers for how. A brief answer for why. I guess if you just go with what the main characters know- their perspective and knowledge, this maybe makes sense. Not everything is tied up with a pretty little bow and life is full of “the unanswered “.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

It’s a common question and the prevailing theme of this story. The tale is tragically beautiful. This is my first listen to a Thalassa book and was well worth the time. I found the story intriguing and I can’t wait for continued books in the series.

This story was BIZARRE with a capital B. But it was enjoyable in it's own way. Quirky characters were all well and good. Unlikely friendships, deception, honor among thieves, dishonor among friends. The whole gamut. And, the author tried to throw in really gross stuff intended to.....what.....horrify? Disgust? I think the narrator did a fine job; I liked some characters better than others, of course. Overall, this story was a trip!

Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

Like all the authors books, this one pulls you in from the start and doesn’t let go. I think the flashbacks to the friend who talked in third person was odd - referred to herself as "we". Loved the “Disney characters” reference. Great narration by the dynamic duo. Overall great listen.

Sam believes in leaving fantasy and drama to the characters in her beloved novels. But one night when she leaves work late, she finds herself center stage in a tale of vengeance and terror.

I listened to the entire story but had to talk myself in to it. The story was juvenile. The narration was stilted. The ending-abrupt and rushed. I guess it was meant to be a cliffhanger for perhaps a future continuation but it didn’t leave me begging for more.

This story had a unique approach that kept it from being a retelling of the "same old, same old". I listen to quite a few romance titles, and some are embarrassingly similar to others - almost like plagiarism - but most just honestly have similarities that are likely unintentional. There's only so many ways to have boy meet girl, so to speak. It was.....odd ..... to hear the female character refer to herself in third person as "her" "she", etc. However, the premise was interesting and the narrator did a good job, so all is well. I think the story should have been longer - it seemed to rush at the end. That part should have been more developed. Overall, though, I enjoyed the story and recommend for other listeners.
