I have been listening to Hope Generation for years now, and was excited that Ben Courson wrote a book about Hope. He didn’t disappoint!

One thing I know is that I have never grown more as a follower of Christ than when other believers have been willing to be open, raw, and honest about their struggles, shortcomings, and sins, and then talk about the journey God has/is taking them on to live differently. Ben is just that in this book! To be honest, I’ve been posting about it, telling my friends, professors, and even writing about this book in my school assignments because it’s just THAT GOOD!

The parts that ministered to my heart the most was when he talked about feeling like an outsider that no one really understands, and when he talked about struggling with living in isolation and being in your own thoughts too much. His challenge that an Optimisfit can’t be someone who doesn’t forgive hit home too. Conviction was real, but so necessary! Lastly, chapter 40 was the chapter I reread several times. When he talks about looking at everyone else’s love-lives with “envy and cynicism”...man, I’ve been there. You HAVE to read the rest of the chapter to find out the best ways to defeat the Optimisfit Blues.

I connected fiercely with his struggles of depression, suicide, and loneliness. I love his challenges to live differently and see Christ in a new perspective. I’ve definitely been impacted by this audiobook, and will absolutely reread it again. It was MIND BLOWING! 🤯

Ready to invade the world being an Optimisfit! 🤘🏽

Sexual abuse, sex addiction, gender confusion, brokenness, and shame plague today's world, and people are seeking clarity and hope. By contesting long-held cultural paradigms, this book equips you to see how sexuality is rooted in the broader context of God's heart and his work for us on earth. Instead of arguing with the world about what's right and wrong about sexual choices, this practical resource equips you to share the love and grace of Jesus as you encounter the pain of sexual brokenness - your own or someone else's.

I love how Juli addresses all of the failures of the church and many self-proclaimed Christians, in showing true love, respect, and honor to people who have different viewpoints. It is important to stand firm on biblical teaching, but not stop at where we disagree. We need to listen and try and understand the hurting hearts around us if we are to make any impact. This was a very insightful and good read!
