Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Some of the serial part was too descriptive. I prefer clean books. Good story line. The audio portion cut out a lot.

It is the summer of 1964. In Mississippi, tensions are mounting over civil-rights demonstrations occurring ever more frequently - and violently - across the state. But in Paige Dunn's small house, there are more immediate concerns. Challenged by the effects of the polio she contracted during her last month of pregnancy, Paige is determined to live as normal a life as possible and to raise her daughter, Diana, with the support of her tough-talking black caregiver, Peacie.

the story had some explicit content in it and I did not like the way the mom diciplined her daughter because of her situation but the struggles were real and it did have a happy ending but it was no life for a child. VERY FRUSTRATING to listen too.

Paulo Coelho's enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world. This story, dazzling in its simplicity and wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an Alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest.
