However it improved and I finally made it through the book! Just confusing keeping the central characters apart.

The hesitation in McInerney’s voice made me stop the book 3 times . I finally finished but will not read another. Poor protagonist sounded like she never had a solid thought to get out !

Love Xe Sands! Sometimes the weaknesses of Kristin’s protagonists turn me off. However these story was not the picture perfect family..... more real!

For this to be such an award winner I was very disappointed. Many times I felt like screaming the pace was so slow.

Sorry I just do not like the protagonist. I love British novels but this character is so mean. Not everyone with a traumatic background ends up angry and hateful to everyone. Also demeaning to those under her.

First time to read Lisa Harris! Story line was good but performance was so slow and bland I about gave up on book. When they are fighting for their lives the tempo remains the same .

Come on get excited.... volume, tone and rate . Also writing was a little choppy!

So many Christian fiction mysteries are not very engaging. However this one was and I did not guess the ending.

Woman narrator was to easy going. Needs to be more dramatic speaking .

So very tired of stories of the weak woman who is not quick witted enough to actually respond. So she’s ‘too stunned’ so she allows her husband to physically and emotionally abuse her and then just walk away. Then the dim-wit ‘just stands as he walks back to his lover.’Give me a break!

I give it 3 stars because it’s Patterson’s fast past mystery. However I do not enjoy good men running from trouble the entire book. Trying to figure out who dun it is great but I do not read fiction to feel anxious about to good guys breaking laws!

It was great to have a new and different story line but the female protagonist drove me crazy. Strong willed I understand because that’s me also. However when you ignore logic, safety and common sense just to say you did what you wanted and not what someone else wanted, you kind of deserve what you get. Many times I wished Gull had just walked away!
