I read this book many years ago and have always remembered it fondly. I read about 75 books a year so remembering the book, the characters and the overall joy of it, is saying something! I love the concept, the goodness of the main characters and the heart given to all beings. Great book. Oh -
And, I’m getting a Golden Retriever next week. He’s “the smartest dog we’ve ever seen” per the breeder. Hey, you never know!

This book covers so many angles of human nature, of spirituality- of love and friendship, hope and loss. It doesn’t even matter that it’s on another planet, all the emotions are strong and true. I’ve read this book at least 5 times over the years and it never bores me. I love each character differently each time; they are each admirable old friends that I’ve missed. I would like to be as wise and strong as any of them and I’d LOVE to have met the Runa. An amazing book. Worth a read - or listen- or both. I should add that I’m an avid reader, usually managing 60 - 80 books a year. Rarely do I want to reread them. This book, like Alice Walkers Temple of my Familiar, Barbara Kingsolvers Prodigal Summer and Stephen Kings The Stand are all so incredibly deep and well written, I get absorbed all over again. I get called to come back, move in and sigh. I hope you have those books too.

I have had trouble listening to books to the end lately. They get predictable or boring. This book kept holding my hand, pulling me on. I enjoyed it right to the last word.

This was well written , suspenseful without keeping me up. I learned a great deal about Iceland, drug running and banking. The characters were fully developed and. Interesting. The audio performance was perfect.
