I enjoyed it and liked that his family mystery was unveiled. Can't specify why it wasn't a top fav of his. Maybe I've read so many it was predictable??

Loved the descriptions of life in Africa in the colonies. Loved the setting and mingling of British and African cultures Loved the inspiring bravery and sense of adventure of Beryl. The writing is lovely and I didn't want it to end.

In usual Picault style a well told tale with several layers. Enjoyable read with a bit of the supernatural for a twist
