Explore the notion of "mindfulness" - nonjudgmental attention to experience - as it occurs in everyday life and as a deliberate practice. Note the many benefits of mindfulness practice, from the freedom to choose how you respond to life, to releasing detrimental emotions and patterns of thinking, to its effects on your physical health.

I really enjoyed and benefitted from this brief, well organized lecture on awareness and more broadly mindfulness. He did an excellent job of illustrating what awareness is and then expanded his ideas on why it is beneficial and how it can be applicable in everyday life. I highly recommend listening.

Losing weight and successfully maintaining it over the long term is not as much about what you put in your stomach; it's more about what's happening in the brain. In Brain-Powered Weight Loss, psychotherapist and weight management expert Eliza Kingsford shows that more than 90 percent of people who go on diet programs (even healthy ones) fail or eventually regain because they have a dysfunctional relationship with food.

This is a great audible purchase or use of a credit. I started it over as soon as it ended because I enjoyed it and wanted to reinforce what I had just heard. It brings together all the things you've learned in your pursuit of being healthy and gives you practical skills and ideas about how to enforce them in everyday life. I also enjoy Eliza's voice. It is calming and reassuring while still evoking confidence and competence. Get this one and become a long time weight manager.

Present moment awareness is an essential ingredient in life if one expects to experience any degree of authentic peace and contentment. It has been acknowledged for centuries as the cornerstone of spiritual awakening in all traditions of Eastern thought. In the West, however, it is still a relatively unrecognized concept for living. The Western mind is always restless, never content with the moment.

I loved this book. It is hysterical. I actually laughed out loud every ten minutes or so. It is also an interesting study in human behavior and you can't help but think about some of the things you say or post on social media sites. The author is very insightful and his sense of humor is entertaining. I did not stop listening until it ended. I will listen to this again when I need a good laugh. I am going to be sharing this with friends. I have a new favorite audible book. Don't miss out on this one!

I would just like to say that I, for one, really appreciate audible.com listening to its customers and quickly making an effort to re-record this very popular book. I think it is without doubt better than the original. I read all the reviews protesting LOUDLY and decided to order it anyway. I thought, Good Grief! It can't be that bad. I started listening, determined to not be critical of the narration. After about two chapters. I cut it off and I just thought I wasted a credit. I couldn't take it and it kind of creeped me out and annoyed me at the same time. It REALLY did sound like an eight year old valley girl reading an adult novel. The new version is MUCH better. I think it is very comendable that you would act quickly and respond to your listeners. Thank You! I am now able to finish this book and see what all the fuss is about!

Pat Conroy, the beloved American storyteller, is also a voracious reader. He has for years kept a notebook in which he notes words or phrases, just from a love of language. But reading for him is not simply a pleasure to be enjoyed in off-hours or a source of inspiration for his own writing. It would hardly be an exaggeration to claim that reading has saved his life, and if not his life then surely his sanity.

As a huge fan of Pat Conroy's books I was excited to see that he narrated this himself. It is very interesting to hear "My Reading Life" in his voice because it is a personal account of his life. I particularly enjoyed hearing about his interaction with other writers in the Atlanta area and the places they would hang out and meet. It also gives some insight into and further appreciation for many of his novels. I have always wanted to meet him and after listening to this audio book I felt as if I had.

I have a copy of Cultural Literacy and it has a list of topics with a brief description of each that explains its relevance in American Culture. This audio book just lists a bunch of topics alphabetically. I thought this would be a fun book to listen to while driving, but who wants to listen to a random list of names and topics without any information to educate you about them? I just did not get this audio version.

I very much enjoyed listening to this audio book. I was very excited when I saw that audible had added it. I consumed it, much like a starving man at the end of a fast. For history buffs it will be thrilling to hear a first hand account of things through the eyes of Jacqueline Kennedy. I learned things I didn't know and was surprised to learn for example that Mrs. Kennedy did not care for France or the French. I guess I assumed (possibly because of her maiden name) that she was somewhat enchanted with all things French. I was not born during the Kennedy presidency so some of the people that were discussed were unfamiliar to me and therefore not as interesting to hear about as they might be for others who are more informed. I think anyone who is a fan of, or interested in the Kennedy family will want to add this audible book to their library.

I didn't know what to expect with this book. I hesitated to buy it even though I am a big fan of Armistead Maupin's work. I was pleasantly surprised. The fact that the book is about a boy that was abused may understandably put some readers off, but I say take a chance on this one. I became so interested in the story I did not want to fall asleep at night wanting to know what would happen. The story is so compelling and heart felt that it grabs you and doesn't let you go til the end. I don't want to discuss the plot line because I don't want to give anything away. I found myself thinking about this book long after I had finished it. I did not want the story to end and I found myself a bigger Armistead Maupin fan after listening to this performance.
