Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet - which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together - if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow.

Great story line. Excellent character development. Still hard to hear in a noisy environment, as the previous books were, but otherwise well narrated.

"My love, speak to me. Tell me everything.” Neferet went to Kalona, kneeling before him, stroking the soft, dark wings that unfurled loosely around the immortal. “What would you have me say?” He didn’t meet her eyes. “Zoey lives.” Neferet’s voice was flat, cold, lifeless.“She does.”“Then you owe me the subservience of your immortal soul.” She started to walk away from him.“Where are you going? What will happen next?”

This book was good. The narration didn't have the problems as in many of the previous books in the series, so I was happy to find I could listen at a steady volume, even in a noisy environment.

The stakes were high for all of the characters, and there were a few scenes that made this book one of my favorites in the series so far.

With everything she’s ever stood for falling apart, and a broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, Zoey’s fading fast. It’s seeming more and more doubtful that she will be able pull herself back together in time to rejoin her friends and set the world to rights. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must find a way to get to her.

This was the best book in the series so far. I couldn't turn it off! The stakes were high, but the overall tone was optimistic and hopeful. I loved that the author didn't let unending setbacks overwhelm the story. Stevie Ray and Aphrodite are my two favorite characters, and I love their growth in this book!

The only bad thing is that the Scottish accents (characters later in the book) are very difficult to understand. I had to rewind and re-listen to several parts, multiple times. It was worth it though!

So...you'd think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark's life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions.

Very similar in quality to the previous books in the series. As usual, the ending is great, leaving me anxious for the next book, even though the middle had lagged a bit.

I had difficulty hearing parts of this in a noisy environment. Those parts were interesting enough that I tried anyway, and had to rewind, raise the volume and re-listen, then lower the volume back to a tolerable level to continue. It's disappointing and annoying, but common enough in audio books for it to feel like routine at this point.

The good news: Zoey's friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren't Neferet's secrets any longer. The bad news: Ancient evil with the face of an angel has been let loose - that and various other nasties (whose faces aren't so angelic). Grandma Redbird is in trouble. Heath is in trouble. The House of Night is in trouble. Okay, let's face it - Zoey's whole world is in trouble!

the plot is getting much more interesting. I love that the story is evolving into a broader scope,
branching out from their immediate surroundings. I can see it spreading into a worldwide problem, and that has me hooked even more than it did before.
It took me less time than usual to get used to the new narrator. She does a good job, and good voices, though she sounds young. You should know ahead of time that you cannot listen to this book all the way through in a noisy environment. Some of her voices are much softer than other voices, so when they made appearances, I had to rewind, adjust the volume, listen again, and then re-adjust the volume so that the main voice didn't blow my ears off. There's at least one whisper scene too, which I always hate, because they are the hardest to hear without quiet surroundings. Seriously, I wish narrators would never actually whisper! Just say it's supposed to be a whisper, but don't do it!

This book had a large helping of drama, and it kept me hooked. It's hard to imagine so much going so wrong, but it did. Some was satisfactorily resolved, others not so much, but all of it was entertaining. Toward the end, it was intense enough that I had to stop everything just to listen, though I usually do chores and listen at the same time. I'll be getting the next book immediately!

A lovely story of dreams and setbacks, of honor and perseverance in the face of disappointment. I did have to wonder how someone who is 1500 years old has human parents who are still alive, but this is an enjoyable little tale nonetheless.

The narration is excellent, clear and easy to understand at all times.

The name Betrayed made me hesitant. I worried that the Betrayal would be too stressful for me, too much angst and drawn out drama, but I was wrong. It is very well written.
The story is excellent, and it kept me up more than half the night last night. Love it when a book is too good to turn off at bedtime! I can hardly wait to find out what happens next!
