I probably enjoyed this audio book more than any other I've listened to in the last couple years. Wasn't sure what to expect but didn't expect a sword and sorcery romance with a Ru Paul's Drag Race flair. This is definitely one of the funniest books I have ever read/listened to. The writing is tight and you end up loving each well defined character. T.J.Klune has done a masterful job of creating a gay friendly alternate medieval universe filled with non-stop camping and romance. But what puts this presentation over the top and morphs this funny book into hilarious is the talent of narrator Michael Lesley who masterly brings the characters to comedy life. The teeming of Klune and Lesley perfectly blends to highlight all the humor that can be wrung out of this humorous novel. Michael brilliantly voices each character and provides them with the comedy timing to make even the most simple conversations into audio book gold. His reading of the characters truly raises this novel to another level of enjoyment that I don't believe you would get from just reading the print edition. Can't wait to listen to the next book. Thanks Audible for giving us this comedy tour de force.

Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he's brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn't deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only thing he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety.

I really wanted to like this novel and I did see it through to the end but it just wasn't my cup of tea. It tries way to hard to be cute and clever but the cleverness wasn't up to my standards and so much of the humor fell flat for me. Just too damn silly. Kind of like a bad Will Ferrell movie where the jokes are just so low brow, stupid and forced that they lose their desired effect. Some might enjoy it but I'll pass. If you are looking for sophisticated comedy look elsewhere.

Not a lot new here if you have been following the corruption that is Donald Trump other than it's far worse inside the White House than you imagined. The book is well performed by a narrator whose voice reminded me of the authors. A must read unless you have been brainwashed by Fox News to believe lying Trump is god's own candidate.

Excellent overall production with nice performances and excellent sound design. The whole thing fell flat for me in that the story holds very little surprise and is just formulaic in nature to the usual sci fi tropes. I guess I expected more story wise but this kind of situation has been done to death over the years and nothing new happens here.

I was curious about this novel having loved the 1950's MGM movie. This was the first Sabatini novel and found it very well written and entertaining. There was also a lot of great historical information about the start of the French Revolution mixed into the tale. Kind of a melodramatic ending was it's only fault but that is forgiven considering it's age. Simon Vance is a wonderful narrator and brings the story to life with fantastic french pronunciation which puts the ones in my head while reading to pathic shame. If you are a historical novel lover this is a classic and well worth putting on you listening list. And oh.....MGM changed the story a lot although the silent version was just on AMC and it did an excellent job of translating the story to film.

What didn’t you like about Drew Campbell’s performance?

One of the things that I felt hurt this presentation was Drew Campbell's performance. Very lack luster which didn't add much to the characters or pacing of the story. I would not like to hear him do further narrations.

Do you think An Unattractive Vampire needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The characters were interesting as were some of the ideas but a better audio production would be needed. The whole thing was rather hackneyed so I'm not really a fan.

Any additional comments?

There are so many better comic vampire novels out there and this one was very disappointing. Add to that the poor narrator and you have a reason to pass this one up. Actually I'm surprised I finished it.

Would you listen to Crazy Like a Foxe again? Why?

Sure, just for the fun of it! Haley Walsh's characters come to life with the narration of talented Joel Leslie and sometimes you just need a Skyler break to make your day.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Once again the trials and tribulations of Skyler's life explode on the literary scene and I'm glued to my earbuds wanting to know what happens next. There is mystery and the personal drama we have come to expect to the beloved characters in this series.

What about Joel Leslie’s performance did you like?

Over the span of six novels Joel Leslie's excellent performance of these multiple characters have brought them to life for me and I'm sure others. I always hold out for the audio editions of Haley's Skyler novels as Joel's vocal characterizations of the stories characters take the story to the next level of enjoyment. Reading a Skyler story post audio books has you mimicking Joel's interpretations in you head. He is a true artist......as is Haley.

Any additional comments?

If you haven't read or listened to a Skyler Fox novel start from book one as this is a series that grows characters and storyline in a way that you don't want to miss a beat in the ongoing saga. Keep up the great work Haley and Joel!

I don't know what I expected when I started listening to a story that takes place during the Palm Springs White Party with Skyler Foxe but I was certainly amazed how Haley Walsh managed to get the whole "Scooby Gang" and more in on the action. Once again Joel Leslie's performance of the novel brings everyone to life in such a way that I can't read an unpublished Skylor Foxe novella without hearing his characterizations in by head. Once again amazingly entertaining work form two pros. Haley Walsh keep the mysteries coming because you have me hooked on this funny, romantic, hot and always entertaining series. But of course if you are new to the this series start at the beginning to get the whole fun filled picture.
