Way too much romance in this for me and not enough action. I felt like the romance was unrealistic especially with her son being kidnapped. I don't think if my son was missing I would be all over a new lover, Sorry this just wasn't my kind of book.

I thought this was an enjoyable book. It moved quickly and kept me entertained. I really like Don Winslow and am trying to read all his books. Not a heavy story like The Power of the Dog but enjoyable just the same. If you liked The Dawn Patrol and The Gentleman's Hour you will like this book as well.

I loved this book. The narrators were very good and they can make or break the story for me. I read several reviews on the internet for this book and it seems like you either love it or hate it. If you are a fan of slasher movies you will probably enjoy this book. I really didn't know who the killer was until the very end because I was looking where I was lead. I would recommend this book.

I have read all of the Alex Cross novels and was disappointed in this one. I used to love James Patterson and couldn't wait for a new one to come out but the last few years I think he isn't as good as he used to be. Not sure if it was the narrator's portrayal of her or the way she was written in this one but Bree Stone was not the same strong smart and confident woman that she was in the other novels. I think he is sacrificing quality for quantity.

Jack Wade, a claims adjuster for California Fire and Life Mutual Insurance Company, is one of the best arson investigators around. He's a man who knows fire, who can read the traces it leaves behind like a roadmap. When he's called in to examine an unusual claim, the tracks of the fire tell him that something's wrong. So wrong that he violates his own cardinal rule - "You don't get personal, you don't get emotional. Whatever you do, you don't get involved" - and plunges into the case.

I really thought this book was good. My husband thought it was a little simplistic compared to the other Don Winslow books he has read but I loved it. It was the first book by this author that I have read so didn't know what all he was capable of. I really like crime novels though and thought it was interesting learning about how fire acts. I would recommend to anyone.
