In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites listeners into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her - from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work to her time spent at the world's most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it - in her own words and on her own terms.

Granted, I haven’t read many biographies, but I figure that all good books have to have the same attributes regardless of their genre. This one has some cute anecdotes, glimpses into the former First Lady’s life as a kid and a black woman, but that immersive experience that you want from a book, to transport you from your everyday life into another dimension - that just doesn’t happen. I am sorry about that, I really wanted to like this book because of its protagonist but I just don’t have enough free time to wait for it to start become interesting even after listening to it for hours.
