Joe Kenda investigated 387 murder cases during his 23 years with the Colorado Springs Police Department and solved almost all of them. And he is ready to detail the cases that are too gruesome to air on television, cases that still haunt him, and the few cases where the killer got away. These cases are horrifyingly real, and the detail is so mesmerizing you won't be able to turn it off.

The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack's ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family's business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.

So short that it feels like only a start to a book. I like the characters and all and has a good start but then ends like the author only wanted quick money or ran out of ideas on how she really wanted the book to proceed. What I paid was too much for what little enjoyment I got out of it. In a novella in the romance category someone should get the girl at the end. I feel betrayed by the author or publisher who decided to release this without any proper conclusion. It is a great teaser but not worth almost 5 bucks... give it for free or for 2 bucks with *teaser* designation and you will not have alienated your readers.

Janis Ian was catapulted into the spotlight in 1966 at the age of 15, when her soul-wrenching song "Society's Child" became a hit. But this was only the beginning of a long and illustrious career. In Society's Child, Janis Ian provides a relentlessly honest account of the successes and failures - and the hopes and dreams - of an extraordinary life.

I listened to the snippet and then decided to go ahead and get the audiobook. She told a great story. Sang parts of her songs and made you care about what happened to her. She is a great singer. After listening I did find out I knew one of her songs that I had liked and was not disappointed with any of the songs.

This classic by Heinlein is well worth reading. Can't be any stranger than a human raised by martians going to earth for the first time. We should all learn the lesson that Valentine Michael Smith both learns and shares.

The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

Usually by the end of the book you love the characters but I was only two cared about. Since it left you hanging about what was going to happen to one of the ones I liked I immediately had to start the other book. I don't regret the listen but it is slow going.
