Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

The world-building in this epic fantasy is incredible! It’s full in intrigue, some light romance, betrayal, battles & magic! It sucks you in & is brought to life! When a room, item, garment, person...anything is described, it’s so detailed yet succinct, it’s clearly & easily pictured.

There were parts where I was on the edge of my seat & parts that made me feel dead inside...in a good way. Haha! I became so invested in the characters and their storylines! Sanderson has a way of putting you in the shoes of the character. You will think the way the character thinks, come to the same conclusions, feel what they feel without the text ever explicitly telling you those things.

Yes, it’s long, but it’s one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read/heard. It irked me a little when the two narrators pronounce names differently in the same story. They are a married couple in real life, plus why didn’t editors catch that?! Other than that, it was absolutely perfect. Wow!

Kate Mulgrew’s narration is perfection. She IS Captain Janeway! The story is interesting. I love learning Capt Janeway’s back-story that we never learn in Voyager, but answers a lot of questions about where she came from and how she got there. The sound effects in the story are a bit corny and make the recording sound a bit dated...but to be fair it *is* dated since it was recorded back in 1996. Just know that it sounds like the 90’s. Other than that - it’s perfection.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

This was already my all-time favorite book that I have read multiple times and when I heard Wil Wheaton was narrating it, I had to get it on audiobook in addition to my digital and physical copies of the book! And it did not disappoint. There could not have been a more appropriate narrator for this wonderfully geeky book! It all came together in cataclysmic perfection!
