I loved the first book in this series - only his, so I figured I’d continue with the series, but man! this book was a huge disappointment. This is wolf’s story but wolf is not very likable in this book. The heroine Jessie is worse. Here’s a summary of the book - just read this and spare yourself the time and money - Jessie is the daughter of an earl living under her guardians care in England. Wolf and Jessie were best friends as children but then she goes to England with her guardian and becomes an aristocratic lady who can’t brush her own hair or pack her clothes. She’s afraid of sex and childbearing due to her witnessing her father raping her mother. Her guardian wants her to marry so Jessie traps wolf into marrying her because he’s her best friend and would never make her have sex with him and he doesn’t need an heir since he’s not titled or rich (yes, this is clearly irrefutable logic in her mind); wolf spends the rest of the book lusting after her while simultaneously trying to convince her to get an annulment because he is convinced she is not the wife for him (she’s fragile, spoilt and cold and doesn’t compare to willow from only his). He is pretty stubbornly mean to her for most of the book but she kinda deserves it because she selfishly traps him into a marriage without sex or children because she needs ‘protection’. Ugh! In the last couple hours of the audiobook Jessie tells wolf her back story, they have sex and of course they are suddenly in love and happily married even though wolf had nothing good to say about Jessie throughout the book :-/. There was absolutely none of the suspense and chemistry from the first book. Skip this!

This book made me hate Nora more than ever - she is probably the most selfish person in the book. All that moaning and groaning about Soren hurting her in the previous book by not accepting that she was a switch - such rubbish, he found her in pain and going through an abortion alone and asked her to marry him. She responds to that with cruel calculation in telling him that she’d topped Kingsley - knowing full well that Soren loved him. Soren and Kingsley deserved better. HATED this book. Only finished it because I’ve read all 7 others and needed to know the end.
Spoiler ahead:
And then the thing about grace and the baby - so apparently Nora knew Soren wanted a baby and so she ‘gave it to him through grace’ such rubbish - as if she could’ve known grace would get pregnant from that one night. It completely ruins what we’ve come to believe of Soren’s character. And let’s not forget Nora was surprised when she found out the baby was Soren’s. Grace and Zach don’t belong in this series at all. Such a let down from Tiffany Reisz. It feels like she knew she made a mistake with that plot element and is trying her best to justify it. Fail. :(

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side, Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful, and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive apathy - only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. He plans to open the ultimate BDSM club: a dungeon playground for New York's A-list that'll change the scene forever. The club becomes Kingsley's obsession - and he's enlisted some tough-as-nails help.

This book is tells the story of Kingsley and Soren - fills up all the missing bits and it is just adorable. Kingsley’s love for Soren is so pure and true. Sörens Love for Kingsley is just as true and deep even though we don’t ever truly get Soren’s side of the story. My only compliant with this series is that I still HATE grace’s involvement in it. But even good authors make some awful mistakes I suppose. This series is a little ruined for me every time I think about grace with Soren’s child.

I agree with some of the other reviewers - the plot in this book didn’t need all the sex. There was a good plot and the relationship problems for the couple was big enough without needing to go into the details of their sex. That being said - still enjoyed the story just sort of tuned out of a lot of the sex scenes. Narrator did a decent job.

Wes Railey is the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and, reuniting with him in Kentucky, she's in his world now. But this infamous New York dominatrix is no simpering Southern belle, and Nora's dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with the relentlessly seductive pull of Søren - her owner, her lover, the forever she cannot have.

The Wes and Nora story was a snooze fest. I don’t understand Nora’s attraction to him at all. There was no chemistry and I couldn’t feel any attraction. The narrators Wes performance didn’t help. I love love loved the Kingsley and Søren portions. Kingsley’s love and devotion to Soren is just beautiful. Book ends in a cliffhanger but to be honest I couldn’t care less because Nora gets on my nerves with her selfishness. Book is worth the read if you ignore the Wes and Nora portions.
