Annie Marlow has been through the worst. Rocked by tragedy, she heads to the one place that makes her happy: Oceanside in the Pacific Northwest, the destination of many family vacations when Annie was a teenager. Once there, Annie begins to restore her broken spirit, thanks, in part, to the folks she meets: a local painter, Keaton, whose large frame is equal to his big heart - and who helps Annie fix up her rental cottage by the sea; Mellie, the reclusive, prickly landlord Annie is determined to befriend; and Britt, a teenager with a terrible secret.

This is the second time I’ve listened to this book. The first time, I wasn’t sure. This time I fell in love with the characters and love the strength & caring of Annie.
Don’t let the opening tragedy turn you off this book.

This book is for any one who likes Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books. These books are well written and listening to them adds to the suspense. The narrator does an excellent job of reading the story. The only wish I have is that the cover of the book states if the book is the first, second, or third in the series. I believe that I accidentally started with book two thankfully the author gives background information so the reader isn’t lost when there is a remembrance of the previous storyline. I hope more books are coming with Jack Ryan Jr. as the hero.

Excellent book! (OK, some parts weren’t realistic, but I still enjoyed the story!). It kept me on the edge of my seat with all the chases and trying to avoid heartless killers.
Elle is such a wonderfully strong female character (just like the others in the series).
I highly recommend this book!!

Gavin Faulkner was the only doctor in the small South Carolina inner coastal town of Shadows Landing. He was used to patching up everything from fishing lures stuck in skin to gator bites. Nothing could surprise him anymore - except when he found an unconscious woman partially submerged near his dock after a fierce thunderstorm. Ellery St. John’s last memory was of a bat swinging toward her head. The next thing she knew, she was cold, wet, and a sexy man was pressing his lips to hers. Too bad it turned out to be CPR instead of a passionate kiss.

I love all of Kathleen Brooks’s books, I have listened to them multiple times. Then there is this one. In my opinion, it focuses way too much on sex. There was the comic relief, that I’ve come expect in her books, which I’m grateful. Some of the story line was just too unbelievable. I hope the other 2 books in the series equals her other books: The Bluegrass, (and all the Keeneston series), women of power, and Web of Lies series.

I was cautious about getting this book, although I did an Amazon search for Christian suspense, I ended up with this soap opera. I think the author was trying to show that true love is unselfish and that the short life on Earth will give way to Heavenly joy and treasures.

I didn’t like what happened to some of the characters I found much of this book too sad for my liking
I will be returning this book.

I really liked this book. There is gentle witnessing by the female protagonist. (I decided I wanted to read/listen to more Christ centered books.). Both female & male protagonist have wounds (the kind that are not seen.).

I also didn’t identify the bad guys. I find it enjoyable when I’m stumped.
I hope more of Ms. Dylan’s books show up on Audible!

I learned a great deal about the Amish, and was interested to see how many of the sects have evolved to embrace some of modern items. Ms. Conor is the only fictional book that has truthfully explained the peace sign is actually anti-Christian (Nero’s cross) because St. Peter was crucified upside down.

As you can see there is a great deal of information on the subject and also historical information. Normally, I can’t get enough of this information—but it was a bit much.

I like how the main theme is based on forgiveness: and how forgiving someone sets us free.

I don’t know if I’ll listen to this book again, so I may turn it back in.

I thought Devon O’Day did a super narrative job!
