For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

I don't usually write book reviews but I am very impressed with this audio book. I must also confess I have been a long time fan of David Goggins. He holds many keys in his experiences that may help you unlock the tool box in your own mind. I found that his book breaks down, through the accounts his life experiences, how he came to be able to tap into the mental power that is in every human mind. Its exciting to contemplate doing or becoming the thing that you may have always thought was impossible. David's book helps you see the possibilities.

The layout of this audio book is fantastic and a first of its kind in the audio book format as far as I know. Hows it feel to be FIRST in a new way to present an audio book!? Probably pretty damned good. There is a lesson in and of itself! Anyway, i found the breakdown of the book as read by the narrator and the Podcast style breakdowns to be very powerful and usefull in further breaking down the mindset. These additional insights are not included in the book, I am told. So, although a physical book is nice, I believe you get the biggest bang for your buck in this one of a kind audio format.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and will continue to enjoy as I re- listen to this book over and over again. Highly recommended.

Just days before Chad Williams was scheduled to report for basic training at the Great Lakes naval base, he turned on the television and was greeted with the horrifying image of his mentor and training partner, US Navy SEAL Scott Helvenston, being brutally murdered in a premeditated ambush on the streets of Fallujah, Iraq. Steeled in his resolve, Chad committed himself to completing the US military’s most difficult training to become a Navy SEAL - and avenge his friend’s death.

I enjoyed this book. As a Christian Man I found the story of Chad's desire to become a Seal and struggles he had before, during and after SEAL training to be quite interesting. I also could relate to the thrill of new faith and how transforming and clumsy that can be. I think my only critique might be how military service and even War balance out the faith walk of a Christian. I feel like maybe the dignity of a human pursuit such as becoming a SEAL may have somehow been minimized due to the conversion experience that Chad describes. It just felt a bit overzealous. I think it may depend more on where the reader is in their own faith walk and self mastery or self discovery of Body, Mind And Spirit. Over all an enjoyable book.

Entrepreneur Jesse Itzler will try almost anything. He brazenly pretended to be an established hip-hop artist to secure a meeting with a studio head - and it led to a record deal. He convinced a bunch successful business executives to invest in an unprecedented business plan - and it turned into Marquis Jet. He sincerely offered to run a 100-mile race in Spanx to get the attention of the beautiful founder of the company - and ended up marrying her.

I really enjoyed the accurate details of the wildland firefighting profession, which made the story flow that much better for those of us who know a bit about wildland firefighting. The narration was very well done. I highly recommend this book.
