Seven years ago the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a mockumentary bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a tragedy. Now a new crew has been assembled. But this time they're not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life's work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart, this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.

This will make an excellent film. You have a run of the mill standard of character types. But they are all very interesting. Lots of strong females. Made me reconsider the sweet mermaid images we have seen.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

The year is 1703, and Matthew Corbett, professional "problem solver", is missing. Last seen by his friends in New York before he departed on a lucrative, seemingly straightforward mission for the Herrald Agency in Charles Town, he's been too long absent. His comrade-in-arms Hudson Greathouse has an increasing sense the young friend he thinks of as a son must have met with some unexpected peril.

I absolutely love this book. I listen to a lot of books and this one is up there with the best. at one point I stopped listening to this book for 2 days. and I had to put it down because of the peril Matthew Corbett was in. the way it was going, it looked like the author was going to end the series with this book and I didn't want it to end. lucky for us, it is not the end. A great story. Superb narration. I absolutely recommend following Corbetts adventures.

Having read and listened to so many books over several decades, I am not easily impressed. I liked everything about this one. Each narrator was excellent! Great characters and not one of them got on my nerves hahahaha. With most books I usually am busy doing something like painting while listening but I found myself stopping, staring at nothing, listening. So yes it's meaty. If you want Fantasy, Science fiction, Fictional history, time travel, etc then this is for you.
