This book was over indulgent rambling. Most of which was world building notes on how magic worked....no real plot or character development for over half the book. The significant plot pieces were not fully developed or built up as they had been in other books. I have listened to all the 6 books before, which were well done, but I will not likely read another . Very disappointing!

I am Tesla...but I cannot speak my name aloud. Technically, I am only two years old, but inside I am infinite, ageless. I have two loving parents, but I am alone. Like an island in the sea. There is no one else like me. I am totally, uncontested, and damnably unique.

In the first two books Shi became important to me as Forest's guide and confidante. That she is a ghostly guardian makes her all the more intriguing. I longed to know her story and Verdant delivers. Jayne writes a heart-breaking and beautiful story of over-enthusiastic and innocent love that goes wrong.

How love turns to hate and the price of their love is original and haunting. Jayne takes us back in time and shares a story that would be easy to turn into a moral, but her real complex portrayal of the characters and their lives makes it complex and rich.

This is a must read for any Regia fan, or anyone who loves a great story of young love and its folly.

What did you love best about Dark Soul?

Dark Soul moves into a world dark and gritty -- one that at times scared me and others made my skin crawl -- I loved it!Netriet and Merrick are far from typical, yet their love and redemption is even better because of the pain in their lives before. As always, Jayne left me wanting more. I can't wait for the next book to hit the shelves

What other book might you compare Dark Soul to and why?

Maybe some of the darkest fantasy, like Game of Thrones, in the matter-of-fact brutality of this character's life.Only Stephen King and Peter Straub ever disturbed me like Jayne has. I want to know what happens, but the pain of witnessing it through the character's eyes is so very real.

What made the experience of listening to Forest Fire the most enjoyable?

Forest makes an incredible choice in this book, even if she wallows first. While second books are always a downer or there's no reason to triumph in the next one, I found myself addicted despite the dark tone of the book and listened to it in less than two days!

Fair warning! This series and characters are addicting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Forest Fire?

When she confronts her fears and triumphs! Jane does a great job of making each scene unique and twisty--never exactly what you expect.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Hvam has a great voice for this.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Be careful what you wish for!

Any additional comments?

I have listened to the first two books in this series in less than a week, not the norm for me. I have downloaded the next one. Fast paced with characters I care about. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Where does Forbidden Forest rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listen to lots of fantasy and this is a great read, or is that listen. Anyway,Forest, the shape-shifting heroine, is strong, sassy and happy to kick-ass and take names. Normally audio books are for drive time and chores, but I found myself listening for just a few more minutes until I'd finished it in two days!

What did you like best about this story?

The world is rich and well developed and the characters are fierce, real, and ones you love and love to hate. Forest is my favorite, but I also loved Cyrus and the way Dracula makes a cameo . . . you have to read it to find out.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book made me laugh and cry, but I won't spoil it by telling you where.
