I really enjoyed the book, but it is deeply infuriating to listen to a book that talks a lot about the Battle of the Somme when "Somme" is pronounced incorrectly.
The text of the book is fantastic, a little more Jesus-y than I expected but still really good.

Generally it was a really good book and I liked it, but toward the end it went in a really weird way and I wasn't a fan of the direction and that made it hard to keep listening. it resolved interestingly though.

I thought the narrator was excellent, but I think Harari in the tone of his writing comes off as pompous. I think that it is counterproductive to assert that evolution is mutually exclusive with spiritual belief, and for someone that constantly talks about anthropology, he gets some of it wrong. Death rate and toll data given about slave labor in the Congo during the Free State years might need a fact check (fairly certain that scholars specializing in that part of history have the death rate at 50 not 30 as I believe Harari asserts, and totalling 8-10 million).
As someone who loves anthropology and has a degree in it, I had high hopes for this book, but it was kind of disappointing.

Not a total Twain maniac, and probably would not listen to the whole thing start to finish again, but it was an interesting read and I'm happy I chose it for a free original for November.

The story is interesting, however the pompous colonial/imperial attitude of it doesn't age well at all.

This book was phenomenally beautiful and the narration was excellent. I love that the author dedicated an entire novel to exploring the oft overlooked female perspective. Definitely cried throughout, and especially at the end. Hosseini uses words to paint exquisite, wonderful, and tragic pictures of Afghanistan, and Leoni always seems to convey these in perfect tone. Bravo to both.
