What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If you've read/heard any of Brian Tracy's other books on the subject, you've probably read/heard what's in this audiobook. Brian does A LOT of repurposing, so I expected this, but even for him, this is a stretch...

If you're new to Brian Tracy, this one will be a worthwhile listen. Otherwise, stick to his classic stuff like Eat That Frog.

What made the experience of listening to Do Over the most enjoyable?

Jon has a nice delivery and interesting perspectives on core self-development concepts. This is a guy who was going through his own "do over" while writing this book, so it's fresh and real, not a revisionist version of something that happened long ago. Because of this, you can actually see how this advice works.

What did you learn from Do Over that you would use in your daily life?

The exercises he gives are excellent and worth doing, even if you're not in a career transition.

Any additional comments?

It's a solid book that you'll review again and again when going through transitions in your life.

What did you like best about Time Management Made Simple? What did you like least?

I like Brian Tracy. He has solid advice and you know what you're getting when you purchase something he's done. This book followed that formula. Unfortunately, it felt a bit too much like it was thrown together with bits and pieces from other books. If you're read/listened to something else by Brian Tracy, you've probably heard everything here, possible the exact same recordings of it.

What was most disappointing about Brian Tracy’s story?

Verbatim repeats of other material. Felt like it was more a compilation of other work than a new title.

Would you try another book from Maxx Barry and/or Scott Brick?

I'd read the reviews first and think twice about it. This one was way too long and didn't really have a payoff. It was like reading a diary from a Jr. High girl.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's a great narrator. Did well with the characters. Narration was the best part of the book.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I kept waiting for SOMETHING big to happen. It didn't. Should have stopped in the middle when the first signs of lameness showed up.

Any additional comments?

Can't believe this thing averages even 3.7 stars. Did we listen to the same book?

Nominated for the prestigious 2010 CWA Gold Dagger award, Conman is the story of young Neil Martin, a kindly family man. A bit geeky, a bit nerdy. If you met him, you would assume he runs a failing comic memorabilia store in London's Soho. Which he does. In order to bail himself out of a huge stock-ruining, poster sopping basement flood, he needs to claim on his insurance. Which he would do - if he'd remembered to pay his premium.

Would you try another book from Richard Asplin and/or Matt Bates?

I would absolutely listen to Matt Bates read something else. He was excellent. Writing by Richard Asplin was lacking though. Cool concept, but it jumped around and was difficult to follow. There were times when I was with him and really engaged, but also times when I thought I was missing something.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I had a tough time following the different scene changes.

What about Matt Bates’s performance did you like?

Great narration and great character voices. I've listened to a lot of audio books and work in radio. This guy is good!

Could you see Conman being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes - I think it's a cool story with potential. A good edit would do a lot for it.

Any additional comments?

Wanted to like it. Really like the premise and subject. Almost gave up on it, but decided to stick it out. A cool twist at the end, but seemed like it ended abruptly.

First of all, a lot of the reviews here are talking about how this is for sales people. It's not, although there is a chapter/section on sales.

As for his politics, he makes a couple of jokes about paying taxes. Not a big deal...and I'm very liberal.

If you can benefit from information on goal setting, negotiation, positive thinking, being more productive, and developing better relationships, this is an excellent program. As far as stuff I'll use a lot, this is the best program I've gotten from Audible.

For only one credit, this is a steal.
