An ice cream shop! This is a refreshing change from bakeries. I do see lots of promise for the characters introduced in this first book. I cannot wait to see whereKate, Jake, Emma, and Grams go from here.

EVE, ROARKE, PEABODY, AND THE GANG ONCE AGAIN TRIUMPH BUT NOT WITHOUT A FEW INJURIES. I DO LOVE THIS SERIES, THE CHARACTERS, THE CHEMISTRY, AND NOT THE LEAST - THIS NARRATOR. I ONLY GAVE THE BOOK AN OVERALL 4 STAR FOR ONE REASON AND THAT IS THE UNNECESSARY LANGUAGE. I CAN SEE THE OCCASIONAL SLIP INTO VULGARITY AND CERTAINLY A BUNCH OF GANG BANGERS ARE SO STUPID THEY DON'T HAVE THE VOCABULARY TO DO BETTER. HOWEVER, EVE AND ROARKE HAVE PULLED THEMSELVES OUT OF THE GUTTER AND IT IS JUST OUT OF CHARACTER FOR PEABODY. IT ADDS NOTHING TO THE STORY AND OFTEN DETRACTS. SO, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE A SCALING BACK OF THE GUTTER LANGUAGE. I SAY THIS AS SOMEONE WHO HAS LISTENED TO EVERY BOOK IN THIS SERIES, WHO RESPECTS MS. ROBERTS' TALENT, AND WHO LOOKS FORWARD TO EACH NEW BOOK.

I HAVE READ JENN MCKINLAY'S OTHER SERIES BUT SOMEHOW MISSED THIS ONE UNTIL LASR WEEK. I LOVED THE CHARACTERS, THE SETTING, THE DIALOGUE, THE SHEER CHEMISTRY SO MUCH THAT I BINGED THROUGH THEM ALL. SCARLETT, HARRY, VIV, FIONA, ANDRE, NICK, ALISTAIRE - ALL ARE ENGAGING CHARACTERS WITH WHOM YOU WILL LAUGH AND MAYBE CRY BUT ALWAYS FIND INCREDIBLY ENJOYABLE. THIS BOOK WRAPPED UP A COUPLE OF SUB-PLOTS RUNNING THROUGH THE EARLIER BOOKS, BUT THESE CHARACTERS STILL HAVE A LOT TO DO, ALL WHILE ENTERTAINING THE READER.

I WOULD BE AMISS IF I DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE READER. SHE DOES AN OUTSTANDING JOB WITH THE AMERICAN, BRITISH, AND EVEN FRENCH ACCENTS. IT IS A PLEASURE LISTENING TO HER NARRATION.

OH, AND I AM A NATIVE TEXAN. WE DON'T ALL WEAR STETSONS AND BOOTS. HAHA (READ THE BOOK, AND YOU WILL GET IT.)

Booklover Sadie Coleman knows that in life, as in fiction, the right setting can make a world of difference. The small town of Shady Creek, Vermont, seems like the perfect place to start over after losing her Boston job to a merger and her relationship to her ex's gambling addiction. She's bought and redecorated the old grist mill pub, transforming the Inkwell into a cozy spot where tourists and regulars alike can enjoy a pint or a literary-themed cocktail, or join one of several book clubs.

She adores whipping up buttery muffins and other rich breakfast treats for her guests until Bernard Katz checks in. The overbearing land developer plans to build a resort next door where an endangered colony of black-chinned terns is nesting. Worried about the birds, the inevitable transformation of the sleepy fishing community, and her livelihood, Natalie takes a public stand against the project.
