I read the other reviews saying this was predictable, but although I had thought of the possible ending, it still kept my attention and I was never sure until the last 10 minutes. Finished it in a weekend. Will listen to the next one The Wife.

On the edge of my seat the whole time and then the last 3 minutes?! I think I loved the book because it kept me wondering but the ending was just...well abrupt after all of those characters and layers and then...that? What?

This book felt like it was speaking directly to me. I love that it’s short and practical and gives you real advice on how to make changes in trying to be perfect. I was paralyzed with fear everyday in a new job and after getting defensive after every critique from my boss, I was desperate for help. I love how this guy didn’t go into the psychology of it. It’s like, “accept you’re a perfectionist. Got it? Why are you like this? Not important. What’s important is how to retrain your brain to enjoy life.” I’m so thankful someone wrote this book for me!

I listened to The Goldfinch and loved it. I’m from MS, so I’m supposed to love her. But, this one was so slow and she reads it herself in a horrible monotone. I finished it only from pure determination b/c my friends told me to stick with it. Maybe reading the actual book would have been better. My advice? Listen to The Goldfinch and skip this one. Unless you like stories that tell you what happens in the first few minutes then spends the next 13 hours getting to the unfulfilling details of the event, then knock yourself out!

Listened through a few chapters and thought it may just be one of those feel good shallow books about someone socially awkward, but as soon as I thought that, it hooked me. She hooked me. Eleanor is a bit of everyone of us in our minds. Her honesty about loneliness is a connection I've never felt before.
READ THIS. Eleanor+Raymond=4-life. Xx.
