"The Red Room" (Swedish: "Röda rummet") is a satire of Stockholm society, it has frequently been described as the first modern Swedish novel. While receiving mixed reviews in Sweden, it was acclaimed in Denmark, where Strindberg was hailed as a genius. As a result of "The Red Room", Strindberg became famous throughout Scandinavia. Edvard Brandes wrote that it "makes the reader want to join the fight against hypocrisy and reaction".

Any additional comments?

Though I was very much looking forward to Strindberg's novel, the narrator's flat, dull voice ruined the experience. I returned the audible book without finishing it. If Audible gets a new reader I would love to try it again. Don't the editors ever listen to the works they have commissioned?

No

Has 1000 Spanish Words in Context turned you off from other books in this genre?

Here's how this audio book could have been made useful:
1) Speak the English word FIRST.
2) Speak the Spanish word once slowly, then at normal speed.
3) Speak the English sentence FIRST.
4) Speak the Spanish sentence slowly, then at normal speed.
5) Allow time between English and Spanish for the listener to try and formulate their own translation.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Much too fast

This means of delivery puts the vocabulary way beyond a beginner. Intermediates will struggle. Spend your money on the Pimsleur Spanish audiobooks instead.

Which means that the next warning the source gives will be taken very seriously indeed. And it’s a big one. We’ve put a package on a ship from Dubai to the United States. A radioactive one. A bomb? Not yet. It’s a test run.

What disappointed you about The Counterfeit Agent?

When I read the reviews, I just thought the ending was poor. Instead you are cut off in the middle of the story. Maybe there is a follow up novel, I don't know. The publisher's summary gives no indication you are just getting part 1.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Guidall is an excellent reader, though his gentle, caring voice is probably not the best one for an action spy novel.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Counterfeit Agent?

I felt I was reading an abridged novel. Some scenes just seemed to be missing. Towards the end, our hero is facing a gun battle with 3 men. In the next chapter, the bad guys are all dead, the hero has escaped back to the US and the evil female boss is mourning the loss of her team. She's wondering what to do next, and that's how the novel ends. ARGH!

Max Tegmark leads us on an astonishing journey through past, present and future, and through the physics, astronomy, and mathematics that are the foundation of his work, most particularly his hypothesis that our physical reality is a mathematical structure and his theory of the ultimate multiverse. In a dazzling combination of both popular and groundbreaking science, he not only helps us grasp his often mind-boggling theories, but he also shares with us some of the often surprising triumphs and disappointments that have shaped his life as a scientist.

Striking beauty comes at a price. Rahab paid it when at the age of 15 she was sold into prostitution by the one man she loved and trusted—her father. This book is written for 16 year old girls who can't decide between a life devoted to God or boys. For those looking for a Harliquin Romance without the sex, this is for you.The story is absolutely predictable. It is writing, but not literature.

If you could sum up A Delicate Truth in three words, what would they be?

A must listen

Any additional comments?

I have listened to several hundred audible books, and this narration is probably the best I've ever heard. The writing is very good, but Le Carre's reading brings an extra dimension. He captures the humour and pathos in his own writing in a way I couldn't imagine picking up if I were to just read the physical book. If you want to understand how well a story teller can master his art, listen to this book.
