For Mo Collins, surviving the zombie apocalypse isn’t getting any easier. Defeating blunatics, saving survivors, recovering treasure, and securing Guntersville Island has been taking up Mo’s time when he would rather just make time with his girl. But he can’t avoid his scripted destiny; his personal Oracle, Smokes, won’t let him. He can still bitch about it, though.

“I’m hiring you to do more than guard her, Zander,” my new boss explained. “You’re gonna be her rock. Her human Valium. Her trusted friend. And she’s gonna be your mission from God.” “So I’m her babysitter?” “Her babysitter, her bodyguard, her f--king service doggie. Whatever she needs or wants, that’s what you’ll be. Anything except her booty call.” The vein in my new boss’s neck bulged. “Touch her and I’ll do more than fire your ass, Zander. I’ll rip off your balls.” My buddies laughed when I told them about my ridiculous new job.

I've got dating horror stories that would curl your toes and singe your nose hairs, but none of them compare to the toad who started it all: Ellis Walker. He was the boy next door, the charming, infuriatingly gorgeous one who broke my heart and disappeared without a trace. Now, he's back and determined to throw my life into chaos, dredging up painful memories just when things were getting good. But the thing is there are always two sides to every story.

It's that his nana will be all alone in her small, rural home during the heat of summer, doing the yard work, the laundry, and all the things around the house, while mourning her husband. That won't sit for Tony. With his mother's permission he moves in with Nana for the summer.
