Life is meant to be savored, but that’s not easy with no family, limited prospects, and a past you’d rather not talk about. Still, Callie Smith doesn’t know how to feel when she discovers she has a brother and a sister - Malcolm, who grew up with affection, wealth, and privilege, and Keira, a streetwise 12-year-old. Despite her trepidation, she moves into the grand family home with her siblings and grandfather on the shores of Lake Washington, hoping just maybe this will be the start of a whole new life. But starting over can be messy.

A little piece of home between the pages. Loved all the characters and great plot twist. Made you feel like you were living the emotional ride with them.

This Book was an easy listen and a great novel. Now that said the last few books there was more interactions and conflict between the "bad guys" and the "good guys" this book however concentrates on the couple. Now lets talk narrators, I am Unimpressed with Paula's work. She has a pleasant voice but doesn't do the men justice. I hate her interpretation of Lucian's voice! I think she also fall flat when it comes time to add a little intensity and drama. I'll just say If she narrates the next one I'll just read the book. However It is creditworthy and I did enjoy listening to it. I just wish for a return to one of the previous narrators. I always enjoy a Lynsay Sands book, and I thought the birth scene was sweet.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. Okay first off I was unsure if I wanted to get this book because of the clip...never know how a narrator is gonna change through the book, however Amy really did good and found a rythm that worked well i think. I only gave it a 4 because it sounded off in the beginning and I'm just picky that way. Anyways I really liked the book, some teen books dont crossover well and this one does. I found the history interesting just makes one think about the choices we make as nations and what posssible consequences there are. One thing to note however the second book isn't expected to be out till spring of '13 so if you get impatient then I would wait a while to get this book.
