Before Elloren Gardner came to possess the White Wand of myth, the Wand was drawn to another bearer: Sagellyn Gaffney. Sage’s affinity for light magery, a rare skill among Gardnerians, makes her the perfect protector for the one tool that can combat the shadows spreading across Erthia. But in order to keep the Wand safe from the dark forces hunting for it, Sage must abandon everything she once knew and forge a new path for herself...a dangerous course that could lead to either triumph or utter ruin.

Yes the steam punk theme was thrown in there but not overtly. The main character is a tinkerer and they talk about airships but besides that it’s just a fun take on the old fairy tale of beauty and the beast. Definitely worth the listen, I enjoyed 😍

Saiya Buchanan is a wraith, able to detach her shadow from her body and send it off to do her bidding. But, unlike most of her kin, Saiya doesn't deal in death. Instead, she trades secrets - and in the goblin besieged city of Stirling in Scotland, they're a highly prized commodity. It might just be, however, that the goblins have been hiding the greatest secret of them all. When Gabriel de Florinville, a Dark Elf, is sent as royal envoy into Stirling and takes her prisoner, Saiya is not only going to uncover the sinister truth.

I’m hesitant to write a bad review but this book was honestly not good. Maybe I shouldn’t have expected as much but the cover and synopsis made it sound like it was going to be a totally different book. It was basically the daily life’s of really well behaved teenagers. The shifter aspect was barely explored and they spent the entire story following the boring lives of the young characters. Sorry to the author because I know this was her debut novel but it was advertised as I was browsing paranormal romance novels. This is not a paranormal romance this is truly YOUNG adult.

I like this book, it has great characters that feel really real and are likable. But I got this book in the romance package and except for at the very end, there is absolutely NO ROMANCE! I like a good love scene thrown into a well written fantasy novel, this book just didn’t go there.

I’ve read a lot of fantasy romance books and I feel like I’m relatively easy to please. I normally give most books 5 stars. However, this book just didn’t do it for me? I can’t stand the main character. She’s so infuriating. And the guys are just not developed and nothing really happens. I like the idea of the book but it just wasn’t working for me. I don’t even want to read the next book but my ocd will not let me leave a series unfinished.

I’m not even finished with this book and I purchased it not expecting a whole lot but this was written so immaturely! It’s like the actions of the main character are so far from what a normal 17 year old would do. Also she is written like how a little girl would act. I’m disappointed so far in this book. I bought this for a easy listen in the background while I do other things but I became so annoyed by the narrator I had to eventually turn it off before I finished. I’m a huge fan of paranormal/urban fantasy/ romance and YA and that’s all I listen to, this was the first book I’ve stopped listening to before it finished. Just a warning for anyone looking for another good YA/paranormal romance THIS IS WRITTEN FOR 6ths graders not actual 18 year olds.
