I have listened to dozens and dozens of audiobooks in my life, but I have to say Bronson Pinchot’s performance on this book was just incredible and was very possibly the best I’ve ever heard. Plus the story is great. Having read most of King’s books, this one is easily one of my favorites. All around, great. Very different from King’s typical horror realm. I really enjoyed his take on a fantasy story. You should definitely give it a try!

In this second volume, Roland encounters three mysterious doorways on a deserted beach along the Western Sea. Each one enters into a different person's life in New York - here, he joins forces with the defiant young Eddie Dean and with the beautiful, brilliant, and brave Odetta Holmes in a savage struggle against underworld evil and otherworldly enemies. They also become the companions, forming a ka-tet, who will assist him on his quest to save the Dark Tower.

Of the now 8 books in The Dark Tower Series, this might be my favorite. I knew I liked the first one, The Gunslinger, when I first read it years ago, but the second book really pulled me in. The story is gripping, gut wrenching, and just fantastic! Stephen King truly at his best!

Having read a number of fantasy series I decided to try the wheel of time and oh man this is a great start. It's a rich dense world that is so deep it feels real. Onto book two to see where this series goes!
