Good story, appalling accents

I enjoyed this story. A typical Tom Clancy story that follows his usual formula. However, it was let down by the narration. The guy's so called Welsh accent was a travesty. The nearest to any real accent was possibly Scots but that would probably not go down well with any Scotsman listening. All the other non-Americans had some weird generic 'foreign' accent. Whilst it meant you knew it wasn't an American character, it was grating and frankly detracted from the story.

Fascinating story, more than an autobiography.

Before I read this I wasn't expecting more than a name dropping bio but this is something completely different. Excellently composed, the stories link together and the whole is a coherent study of 2 real people who just happened to be well known actors. The fact that Dyan Cannon reads this makes it very personal and there are times when it is clear that reading it brought back profound feelings for her.
Overall this is a really good book on many levels and the last chapter is an emotional high for both the narrator and listener.

I was disappointed with this book. There is a lot of dialogue but at the expense of any feel for the period or locations. Where there are descriptions, these are often repeated. It just felt that it was guys taking off and landing in planes but with no sense of distance travelled. All in all I found it one dimensional and at times confusing.

Best word I could think to describe this mammoth book. Sometimes predictable but depth to characters and used historical fact and speculation well to create something that wanted me to keep listening.

This was just fantastic. Don't be fooled into thinking this is another Dr Who. Absolutely brilliant writing and really did not want the book to finish. Very clever and deep.

I really enjoyed this story of 3 strong women from totally different backgrounds coming together to help win the war. Well written and seemed to be 3 stories in one. Thoroughly recommend.

this wasn't a bad story but seemed to tick along rather than grab me with twists and turns. All a bit predictable really. OK to listen to on the bike.
