Celine Montclaire goes to the Shadow Market to escape. She would go anywhere in Paris, or the entire world, to escape the suffering she experiences at the hands of her family. She did not expect to meet Valentine Morgenstern there, or to have him promise her freedom and the heart of the man she secretly loves. On one condition, of course. At the Shadow Market, nothing is for free.

It was difficult for me to enjoy this because of the narrator. I don’t like her acting style and this did not win me over.

Life sucks when your friends are pissed at you. Just ask Zoey Redbird. In one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none, and from having a close group of friends who trusted and supported her to being an outcast. Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead and unMarked. And Neferet has declared war on humans, which Zoey knows in her heart is wrong.

Thank you for replacing the narrator. She was HORRIBLE! Her cadence and weird pronunciation made it so difficult for me to listen to the previous three books.

Enter the dark, magical world of the House of Night, a world very much like our own, except here vampyres have always existed. One minute, 16-year-old Zoey Redbird is a normal teenager dealing with everyday high school stress; the next, she's Marked as a fledgling vampyre, forcing her to leave her ordinary life behind and join the House of Night, a boarding school where she will train to become an adult vampyre.

The story is good. The narrator is horrible. Her intonation and pronunciation is like drawing fingernails across a chalkboard to me. She sounds like she's asking a question right in the middle of each sentence. Horrible. I'd like to listen to others in the series but don't think I can take any more of her.

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind.

Would you listen to City of Fallen Angels again? Why?

Yes. Story was good, and Ed Westwick saved it from being totally horrible to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the dynamic and the development of the supporting players. I'd read books one through three and then skipped ahead to six. It's good to understand some of the backstory.

What didn’t you like about Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s performance?

I enjoyed Ed Westwick well enough. He'd narrated one of the Magnus Bane Chronicles and I was used to his style. I didn't enjoy Molly C. Quinn at all. In fact, I will probably skip book five on Audible and just buy the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not so much a moment. It was good to see Simon's character developed a bit more. As always, I love all things Alec and Magnus.
