I would like to say that I'm basing my review purely on the storyline of the book. This was my first jump into "hard science fiction" and I'd say the genre isn't really for me. Which is why I won't knock anything for that aspect. I feel like that would be on par with claiming a romance novel has too much love.

With that said, I really enjoyed the story. It played out almost like an exercise or thought experiment for handling an potential full Earth extinction event. Everything from the science, the relationships, and the politics was very well done. I particularly enjoyed the character. My only gripe is I feel like the book didn't end when it should have. Part 3 of this book has such a different tone that it felt more like a spin off than part of the same story. Ideally, part 3 would be replaced with a short epilogue and just end. I'm also not sure I enjoyed the swap in narrators for part 3. The narrator for part 3 isn't bad, but just didn't enjoy the change up. Then again part 3 was such a different tone maybe a new voice made sense haha.

Regardless, I would recommend this book if it is something you think you would be interested in because parts 1 and 2 were good enough to make the story worth checking out.

Arriving to work one day to a crime scene, Flynn’s world collapses as the secrets of his tortured mind are revealed. And Flynn doesn’t want to go looking for answers at the supermarket. I really wanted to love this book, but found it very easy to stop listening to in order to do other things versus it being hard to stop. I would say everything about the story was decent, but that's really about it, just decent. The characters were alright, story was average, and the performance was good.
