I throughly enjoyed this book. Do not try to debunk or consider the science behind their pods. Just hop in and enjoy the trip.

As the owner of a rescued border collie and a rescued border collie mix..... I felt as if the writer knew my dogs. He writes of a demanding and yet tranquil life on a farm that manages to be perfect and chaotic at the same time. I want to find more books and stories by the author so I can return to Bedlam Farms.

It is not a complex tale but that isn't the fun of this book. The fun is reading about a smart kid and her adventure with her favorite dog. This would be a great book for a family road trip.

Would you try another book from M. J. Ryan and/or M. J. Ryan?

I would consider a hard copy versus audio for future books by this author.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Well, yes. I liked the conversational feel but the pacing was awkward and it sounded unrehearsed. The worse part is that is sounds like the reader was sitting in their bathroom reading from notes. Would benefit from a more professional reading of the material.

Any additional comments?

Might have to get a hard copy to get a real benefit from this material. A little disappointed in the audio book product.

What made the experience of listening to 14 the most enjoyable?

The reader uses their voice to help add excitement and tension to the story. The story could be in any large city with very old buildings with mysterious doors and shadowed pasts.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the concept of investigating a creaky old building to discover it's mysteries. And the feeling that some of the tenants became invested in each other helped to make the reader interested in what they might discover on their hunt for clues.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He can make the phone book sound exciting, especially while running through the Fs and Gs. The inflections and accents help you tell who is speaking and helps paint the picture.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No,

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book until the last 22 minutes or so. The book was well paced until just before the end and suddenly it seemed rushed and slightly unfinished. The depth of detail became lost in the hurry to wind everything up in the last chapter.

I have enjoyed her other books but this one seemed like she had missed her publishing deadline and just turned in the rough draft missing the final 4 chapters. I liked the early character development but during the second half of the book the only insight about the characters seemed to be a listing of the "brands" of their furniture and clothing.

I felt cheated and the ending was unsatisfying. I would not recommend this book.
