For a long time I avoided this book because of the negative reviews. I'm so happy that I took a chance and listened to Ashley Bell. I enjoy the fantasy side of Koontz writings & this took me in directions I wasn't expecting. If you aren't willing to accept the things that can't always be explained then you shouldn't listen but if you are open minded, give it a chance. Its a
Really good listen :)

An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

After waiting so many months for this to be released, I was afraid of having built myself up to be let down. However Stephen King doesn’t normally let me down :)
From the beginning it had a feel of Mr Mercedes to me and that continued throughout the novel.
I definitely recommend this book!

With each and every new novel, Dean Koontz raises the stakes, and the pulse rate, higher than any other author. Now, in what may be his most suspenseful and heartfelt novel ever, he brings us the story of an ordinary man whose extraordinary commitment to his wife will take him on a harrowing journey of adventure, sacrifice, and redemption to the mystery of love itself, and to a showdown with the darkness that would destroy it forever.
