For some of us very white folk, it’s really helpful to get a glimpse into the horrible inside of apartheid and this an insight into the racism in our own country.

We’ve enjoyed all the Maudie novels, and look forward to the next one. Orlagh Cassidy does a really fine job of narration, differentiating the characters and accents. The only disturbing things are very rare mispronunciation of English words such as “renumeration” for ”remuneration.” Otherwise, great.

I wrote a review early in listening to this book, and want to review again because it is so good. Very insightful, very helpful in learning to be a champion in the wilderness of life. I liked it so much I bought a hard copy as well, and will use them both over again.

Such a classic that the book and stories do not need my endorsement. But Stephen Fry’s performance is the perfect enhancement to these marvelous stories. Highly recommend!
