This is an okay book but it needs some work. The characters were well developed and the story line was interesting. However, it seemed to get off track from the mystery and focus too much on alcoholism. Gabra Zackman does a good job as narrator. I might get another book in this series, but probably not.

I listened to the first book in this series and thought I would give the second book a try. It was a complete waste of time. There is something about lead character that I don't like. She seems pompous and unrealistic. At any rate. if she were a real person. I would avoid her. I therefore, was unable to finish this book.

No self-respecting lady would allow herself to end up in Sarah Booth's situation. Unwed, unemployed, and over 30, she's flat broke and about to lose the family plantation. Not to mention being haunted by the ghost of her great-great-grandmother's nanny, who never misses an opportunity to remind her of her sorry state.

Lucy could do without Heather Banks, though. The Gucci-toting ex-cheerleader is still as nasty as she was back in high school...and she's just taken over as the local health inspector. This is a well plotted mystery with engaging characters and a believable storyline. The mystery isn't easily solved and I enjoyed the way Lucy interacted with Katie and everyone else in town. The story touches on a romance but that aspect of the story stayed in the background. The only thing I didn't like was the developing love triangle. I hope it's resolved quickly and stays in the background.
