In this audiobook, we hear the life stories of eight incredible individuals.
‘It’s only when you’re transparent about your past, that you have the power to own and change the future.’
Personally, I look back into my childhood for patterns of my current behaviours that I want to change a lot more than most people do, so this audiobook sort of caters to my likings.
Mel may be a little mean at times, but I believe all the people involved already knew that beforehand. These sessions might be too much for some people, but if you are interested in listening to some life stories and advices, it is always worth it to give this try.

Within the walls of Truvy's beauty shop are six women whose lives increasingly hinge on the existence of one another. Together, they absorb the passing seasons, just like the weathered wooden structure of the salon "home" that they share.

Though mostly just chit-chats, these 6 women were so very fond of each other and free-spirited that the whole play turned out to be a humorous flow of non-stop bickering. A 4-star rating for the story and an overall 5-star for the performance version. With simply 6 characters chatting aimlessly, the numerous funny statements with a tint of sadness nonetheless made Steel Magnolias a wonderful comedy.

When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat - but real life isn't always so rhythmic. She's an anomaly in her friend group: the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she's bisexual, she hasn't mustered the courage to tell her friends - not even her openly gay BFF, Simon. So Leah really doesn't know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high.

We already know that Leah is this super self-conscious and stubborn teen girl from 'Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda'. In this book, her POV just made the thoughts and struggles ever so clear and real that sometimes I feel like 'how could you' and also 'I totally get it' at the same time.
'Leah on the Offbeat' audiobook is really cute and beautiful, and as much a cliché as a teen's story, it is very enjoyable. Very.
Shannon's narration made all the emotions so raw and reactions so alive. I might not enjoy the story so much if I were only to read it. Through her voice, I morphed into Leah and my stomach flutters so bad whenever Leah does. I feel I am in love....

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, read by Michael Crouch. Straight people should have to come out too. And the more awkward it is, the better. Simon Spier is 16 and trying to work out who he is - and what he's looking for. But when one of his emails to the very distracting Blue falls into the wrong hands, things get all kinds of complicated. Because for Simon, falling for Blue is a big deal.... It's a holy freaking huge awesome deal.

This book is very cute and enjoyable. I couldn't stop myself from crying and smiling during some emotionally tugging scenes.

Becky did a wondrous job at getting into Simon’s head, and Michael was equally amazing at bringing out Simon's emotions through narration.
