A razor-sharp thinker offers a new understanding of our post-truth world and explains the American instinct to believe in make-believe, from the Pilgrims to P. T. Barnum to Disneyland to zealots of every stripe...to Donald Trump. In this sweeping, eloquent history of America, Kurt Andersen demonstrates that what's happening in our country today - this strange, post-factual, "fake news" moment we're all living through - is not something entirely new, but rather the ultimate expression of our national character and path.

This book was interesting however, I did not agree with some of the premises that the author made such as, genetically modified foods were not dangerous. I disagree with that statement. There were a few other things I did not agree with as well. Some of the topics he discussed we’re very interesting however, I would’ve liked to get more in depth information on some of the subjects that he spoke about. There was a ton of information in this book and I think this book could easily evolve into a multi volume type of work. My attorney son-in-law loved this book and it came highly recommended by him.

Many years ago, as a practicing surgeon, Dr. Bernie Siegel observed the power of the human mind to affect physical outcomes. His observations led him to explore new forms of cancer therapy that utilize a patient's own innate healing potential. Today, he is world-renowned as a pioneer in the field of holistic medicine, and an inspiration to millions of people around the globe.

I love this and my only complaint is at the end of the meditation, when you're all nice and relaxed, a random narrator comes on and says, "audible hopes you enjoyed this audiobook." The person who says this startles you. The volume of this final statement is pretty loud and abrupt. This happens on some of dr. Siegel's other meditations as well. I wish audible would fix this...

The irascible A. J. Fikry, owner of Island Books - the only bookstore on Alice Island - has already lost his wife. Now his most prized possession, a rare book, has been stolen from right under his nose in the most embarrassing of circumstances. The store itself, it seems, will be next to go. One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. I love her very much, but I can no longer take care of her.

The narrator sounds like he's reading Edgar Allan Poe throughout. He reminds me of Vincent Price. Lots of interesting characters. The plot comes full circle at the end.

The search becomes a race among Stephanie's posse, the True Blue Bonds Agency, and the crew of one very scary man named Eddie Abruzzi. Did we mention there's also a killer rabbit on the loose? The world of Stephanie Plum has never been wilder!

Being of Hispanic dissent, the ZH sound the reader makes when Ranger is saying "you" drives me nuts. Why can't he just see you the regular way? That's all. I love these books.

A Feel Good Book

Coming from a very heavily bible-based church I enjoyed this book very much. It conveys the messages from the bible in a very eloquent and positive manner. He takes some of the stories from the bible - like the story of Joseph - and applies them to our life today. If you're not familiar with the story of Joseph, you'll need to look him up in your bible. He uses lots of examples from his own life which make the book enjoyable to listen to. His words are very comforting and inspirational. The book is practical and encourages one to look at every day life at a different perspective - a positive one. I love hearing him read the book. After hearing him, I personally began reading my bible more. I feel his message encourages everyone to become closer to God.
