For three years, Detective Jude Fontaine was kept from the outside world. Held in an underground cell, her only contact was with her sadistic captor, and reading his face was her entire existence. Learning his every line, every movement, and every flicker of thought is what kept her alive. After her experience with isolation and torture, she is left with a fierce desire for justice - and a heightened ability to interpret the body language of both the living and the dead.

Anne Frasier doesn't just draw you into the story itself but she has a way of making her characters come to life as well. While it wouldn't seem believable for someone like Jude to just return to her previous job and pick up where she left off, in the world of fiction this author explains it fairly well and shows the struggles she and those around her have to deal with. Her partner Uriah has his own issues to contend with as he struggles to understand and work with Jude. I've heard Anne Frasier will eventually write another Jude Fontaine book. I hope she does so soon. She's created two unique characters that leave me and I'm sure others wanting more.

Imagine: A boy with a gun waits for the man who killed his mother. A troubled detective confronts her past in the aftermath of a brutal shooting. After 13 years in prison, a good cop walks free as deep in the forest, on the altar of an abandoned church, a body cools in pale linen.... This is a town on the brink. This is Redemption Road.

Emerson Knight is introverted and eccentric and has little to no sense of social etiquette. Good thing he's also brilliant, rich, and (some people might say) handsome, or he'd probably be homeless. Riley Moon has just graduated from Harvard Business and Harvard Law. Her aggressive Texas spitfire attitude has helped her land her dream job as a junior analyst with megabank Blane-Grunwald. At least Riley Moon thought it was her dream job, until she is given her first assignment: babysitting Emerson Knight.
