I definitely found this funnier when I was in a the “right mood” for it, but then it was pretty funny. It got funnier the more I listened, so maybe it just took me a story or two to realize what I’d signed up for. now that I know, looking forward to more.

I have given many worthy books five stars, but wish I held back. I absolutely loved this book and would give it six stars if I could. The characters, the plot, the narrator... everything was so well done and just what I wanted in a story. Most of the stories I really like a lot are about close friends from disparate “backgrounds” who are stronger together - strong enough and complimentary enough in skill and temperament to overcome difficulties that would otherwise stand unchallenged, characters who are good, but not perfect. “Strange Practice” is all these things.

The start and the end were formulaic to me, but the stuff in the middle was original and entertaining. Don’t give up on it to soon.

This is pretty far outside what I usually listen to and left me with a lot to think about... off to listen to something a little more light and fluffy while my brain background processes this story.

Written more like a screenplay to get all the action and character development in quickly, but came across as disjointed and too much, too fast. I had to rewind often because It took me a bit to get used to the rapid switching of point of view. Interesting characters, but not sure I can take the all powerful heroine.

More people than you might think can relate to Don. Everyone wants to feel in control of their life at times, and yet some of the best times come from being thrown into chaos you simply cannot control. Finding balance and acceptance is the real challenge.

I needed a long audiobook and this fit the bill. However, I had to rewind so many times because It lost my attention that it was probably 30% longer. Also, I realized the reason I listened to the second book was because of the cliffhanger at the end of the first book, not because I found the characters or the world created by the author sufficiently engaging. Just not my thing...

This is my new political science/economics textbook. Love that Valia is a redhead (like me). 🤣 Plot and story seemed at times rushed and disjointed, but it pulls everything together (of course). This one maybe deserves a little more attention than previous ones - or maybe I was just reading to much into it, given the political climate we live in at the moment. Regardless, a fun listen with multiple LOLs.

I kept think I should turn around and *watch* it - that’s how good the narrator was! The whole story was even better than the old abridged movies I loved, but the narrator clinched it. He nailed both the characters and the scene descriptions. Fabulous!

After the Jane Yellowrock series, this seems rushed or uneven - like a not quite fully developed idea or only a partial plan for the characters or the story. Still worth the listen/credit and I’ll try the next one to see where it goes.
