This is a great series to listen to. I frequently listen to audio books when I am travelling and they make the time driving or flying speed by. The Royal Scandals Series is one that I really enjoy listening to. Hollis McCarthy does an awesome job as a voice actress. She seems to make the characters come alive. I would recommend this audio book and this entire series. Lina Cornaro the illegitimate daughter of the King of Sarcaccia is trying to come to terms with the person her mother really was -- in addition to her breakup with Ivo Zanardi. When you factor in some over zealous paparazzi and Ivo coming to her rescue is it another recipe for more heartache or is love the ultimate winner? Listen and find out.

I would recommend Mistletoe Me, Baby – (The O’Connor Family Series) by Katie Reus, as a quick holiday listen. Inventing a fake fiancé to get her family to leave her alone was the only plan Miranda Flores had in telling her parents she was engaged. However, when they decide to visit her for the holidays she is stuck with her “little white lie” and no fiancé. In steps Nolan O’Connor, her best friend, who agrees to be her “fake” fiancé. Nolan has secretly fallen for Miranda and has just been waiting for the opportunity to move from the friend slot to something way more than that. He has his work cut out for him with Miranda’s ready-made family and her unwillingness to let anyone too close. As news of their “engagement” filters though the town the deception becomes more and more complicated – Nolan doesn’t want to pretend and Miranda is all about keeping it fake. The characters in this novella were well developed and very likeable. The whole idea of a town that centers on Christmas 365 days a year is quaint and homey. There is a definite heat and chemistry between Miranda and Nolan. Sophie Eastlake does a great job with the characters and narration of the book. She is a great voice actress and seems to bring the story to life for you.

Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job with the narration of this book. He brings the characters to life with the narration of the book. This book is written by Katie Reus writing as Savannah Stuart. The story centers around Andrew (second in command of the O'Shea pack) and Charlotte, a member of the Kincaid pack. Andrew and Charlie meet while she is visiting a fiend, who is also a member of the O'Shea pack. They spend a lot of time together and Charlie thinks that they have something special. Andrew gets scared and "ghosts" on her.
He finally comes to his senses -- and wants to make it up to Charlie and win her back -- this is technically where the book begins -- you learn the rest as back story. I was able to listen to this novella in one evening. I would recommend it for an evening listening escape. Wear headphones -- there are some non-PG parts.

Slade – Team Greywolf Series, Book 1 by Eva Gordon is a paranormal series about and elite special ops branch of the Lycan Intelligence Agency. This story features Cricket, a runt and Price Slade. Cricket is able to blend into human society and collect forensic evidence for the Lycan Intelligence Agency. Since she has such a low rank and generally non-dominate tendencies she is assigned to assist with Price Slade’s rehabilitation, after his entire pack is murdered. The LIA would eventually like to transition Prince Slade into a member of the team. This relationship is complicated by the sexual chemistry between Cricket and Prince Slade. Cricket knows that nothing can come of their mutual attraction because Alpha’s are forbidden to mate with Runts. Cricket and Prince Slade are assigned to investigate reports of missing werewolves -- being in such close proximity to each other – will they act on their desire or abide by pack law?

I listened to this book in the car when travelling. Christine Padovan does an excellent job with the narration of this book. She has the nuances of the characters down. There were no discernable pauses or miscues in the narration. There was some awkward phrasing in the telling of the story that I didn’t really care for – but I was able to get past that and enjoy the plot.

Tease Me Baby is the second book (novella) in the O’Connor family series by Katie Reus. It takes place in the town of Holly – where it is Christmas 365 days a year. Fallon O’Connor is one step away from following her dreams (or so she thinks). She is always trying to please someone (usually her mother) and thinks that attending pastry school will do this. After a scorching encounter with Brad Fulton, the town Sheriff and all around boy scout, Fallon is torn between school and staying with Brad. The plot was fairly well developed for a novella and the characters were believable. Although this is the second novella (book) in the series, and you do see appearances by prior characters, I think it could be read as a stand-alone quite easily. Ms. Reus’ books are generally an automatic purchase for me. Her plots are well written, the characters are well developed and their interactions are believable.

It’s Me Again Baby is the third book (novella) in the O’Connor family series by Katie Reus. This contemporary romance is a second chance at love story. It takes place in the town of Holly – where it is Christmas 365 days a year. Since leaving the marines Maguire O’Connor returned to Holly (his hometown) and started an auto shop and restoration business. He is doing so well he is looking to expand. Samantha Murphy has just moved back to Holly (after the unexpected death of her father). Macguire and Sam meet again in though the mechanisms of Macguire’s mother. She’s a real estate agent and he’s looking for property. Old hurts are aired and misunderstandings are discovered as the two attempt to resume their “relationship” where they left off. Sam’s past follows her to Holly and Macguire will do anything to keep her safe. This novella was a very quick listen for me. The plot was pretty well fleshed out and the characters were likeable and believable. The slight suspense twist to the story added some depth to it. The Wicked Prince: Royal Scandals Book 5 by Nicole Burnham. Prince Alessandro has always been the wild Barrali. He loves adventure and going his own way. He meets Francesca Lawrence when he is impersonating his brother, Crown Prince Vittorio. Once his impersonation duties are complete Alessando returns to his “wild ways”. However, he is dissatisfied with his life and is looking for a new escape. Frannie left a lucrative job to open a shelter on the tsunami ravaged island of Kilakuru. She travels to Sarcaccia to meet with the Queen to request additional funding for the shelter and in is in hopes of recruiting some volunteers. When Prince Alessandro appears at the shelter in the South Pacific, she’s sure he has no idea what he is getting into and is just whiling away his time. As he spends time at the shelter she comes to realize that the children love him and enjoy spending time with him. She is beginning to feel the same but is afraid to trust her heart to the heartbreaker Prince Alessandro. Alessandro feels that his past indiscretions make him an unsuitable partner for Frannie.

Hollis McCarthy has narrated all the books in this series. She again does an excellent job with the accents and characters voices, including the children. She appears to have an affinity for the Barrali family and their accented speech. Ms. McCarthy’s ability to make the come alive, is a great asset to the narration of the book. Her telling of the story has you feeling the emotions that the characters experience. The narration flowed nicely with no stops or stammers. There don’t appear to be any miscues in the reading.

Saved by Darkness. (Darkness Series – Book 6) by Katie Reus. This is an excellent paranormal series. It has anything a paranormal romantic suspense reader could want – shifters, vampires, demons, demi-gods – you name it you can probably read about it in this world. I would recommend reading the other books in this series first – you will get a better understanding of the characters, secondary characters and their interactions. Ian McCabe – half dragon/half demon has loved Fiona O’Reilly for decades. He is determined to win her back and to discover the reason she rejected him so many years ago. Fiona, willing to sacrifice her love to keep Ian safe does what she has to do. However, as an enemy emerges and Ian and Fiona work together to save humans from destruction will this be their new beginning or the beginning of the end for them? Ms. Reus does a great job with the characters in this book. I could revisit the Darkness World that she has created over and over. I look forward to more books in this series.

As usual Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job! He brings the characters to life and his narration of the book is superb. He seems to have an understanding of the book and the characters and that shows in his telling of the story. I listened in the car on a road trip and it made the time fly by.

Rocco Cornaro is a wealthy man – he is on the cutting edge of inventing and implementing life-saving medical technology and devices. BUT, Rocco Cornaro has a secret. In keeping this secret, he has alienated his wife, Justine. Although they live separately, Rocco still feels deeply for Justine. When Justine is kidnapped by the Russian enforcers and held for ransom will Rocco reveal his secret and risk everything to save her? This has been my favorite book of this series. The plot is fast paced. The characters are interesting and their interactions are believable and sometimes intense.

Hollis McCarthy did an excellent job narrating this book. She kept a good pace and the chapters seemed to flow together well. There were no noticeable miscues, pauses or issues with the narrating of this story.
