I am shocked to find out that this man actually believed that no one in the Army knew anything but him, that any other men were needed to fight the war, and that there was room for anyone else on the chopper's when his head was fully inserted. This is too many hours of OMG I am the greatest man in the world, and everyone else is out to get me, are stupid, and I knew better than everyone else what needed to be done.

Did not realize that this book was primarily based on the British Efforts in Submarine Operations. Would have skipped it if that had been recognized before I bought the book!

I read this book for two reasons. The first being that this was the day my father died, and too listen to what my mother listened to that day, to hear what she described to me, later in life. Hard to find fault as this is a 24 your collection of the actual news events that were reported on that day from all over the world. I find it interesting looking back after 74 years and comparing later events with the commentaries provided. The best part of the day was listening to all the people that kissed the ground Montgomery proved wrong by history, and to note that the two most proven Generals responsible for the defeat of the in the west ( Bradley and Patton) be ignored through out. You could tell the reports were for the most part being generated by the English and Montgomery's press agents. If you are a true history buff, I think you will enjoy this book.

While this book discusses the Battle of Manila, it is mainly centered on the Japanese treatment of the resident of the city, during the course of the battle, and the Japanese action are discussed for approximately 100 people, including a description of the number of bayonet wounds and other wounds, that each person received. These details are very hard to listen to for hour after hour. I had to put the book away numerous times because of the detail provided. IMHO A better title in my mind for this book would have been the MacArthur , Yamashita and Rape of Manila!

This was, in my mind the start of a great book. I found it interesting and I learned a deal about these two leaders that I did not know previously. This author lost me when after totally discounting the significance of the Truman's actions at Potsdam and his standing up to Stalin, and putting Churchill in his place, he spends an inordinate amount of time to rehash the use of the Atomic Bomb in Japan, and his opposition to it use after all these years, If I had known that this was going to be the authors forum to attack the decision, I would never had bought this book. If the author had lost his Father and Uncle fighting those people, I wonder if he would have felt the same way. I am sorry I supported his forum for his opinions.

This is without a doubt IMHO, the best collection of books on Robert E. Lee that I have read to date. I have been a student of the Civil War for over thirty years, and these books do not dwell on details of the many battles he fought and are not biased on the part of the North as are so many book I have read. The details of his life post 1865 in the detail provided is well worth reading. This is a great read!

This is the first Patterson book, that I did not like! I found the profanity a great distraction! The characters were unlikeable and the presenters were poor! I could not wait for this audiobook to be completed, so I fast fowarded the last 60 minutes, just to get this audio book marked as read, so it will go to the nonactive section of my library, and out of my sight!
