Your child is smart, but does your child believe it? "Smart" is a power word. Children who believe they're smart excel more in school and approach life with greater confidence. But children who don't can struggle to apply themselves. Do you wish your child could see how smart he or she is? Find hope in 8 Great Smarts. You'll be empowered and equipped with new language and creative ideas.

Kathy Koch takes the lid off the box that can often inhibit children's learning. Understanding the 8 great smarts gives hope to kids (and the parents who love them!) who struggle with learning challenges. The information is easy to understand and implement, no matter the age of the learner. It gives a fresh perspective on the term smart and invites the learner to cultivate their strengths and find their own "smarts".

Her daughter is attending college nearby, and Diane hopes that her family can now begin to heal. But rebuilding their lives after the tragedy isn't so simple. Diane's depressed college-age daughter, Alexa, still avoids her, critical of everything Diane does, and even her generally amiable teenage son, Josh, has started acting out.

As an author myself, I am very careful about spoilers. Most of this book was well done and did keep me guessing for a while. But then it took a hard left turn toward the infuriating!.I think the author was so focused on writing a shocking ending that she sacrificed a good story for the sake of a cheap thrill. I felt betrayed.

I had been counting the days until I could listen to this book, but sadly I was disappointed. I even double checked the information to make sure that it was written by THE Linda Howard.
The premise was good, and I mostly liked Morgan although even he was a bit bland for my taste. With every chapter, I kept thinking, "Ok, now the action will start", but it never did (even when it did!)

I also considered keeping a tally of how many times I heard the name Tricks. Too many. Way too many. I won't give up on LH, but this one is not her best effort. C-

In Israel, a man clutching a backpack searches desperately for a boat. In Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a message from Lucas Davenport: You're about to get a visitor. It's an Israeli cop, and she's tailing a man who's smuggled out an extraordinary relic - a copper scroll revealing startling details about the man known as King Solomon. Wait a minute, laughs Virgil. Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses? He looks at the cop. She's not laughing.

What did you like best about Storm Front? What did you like least?

I enjoyed the humor and actually LOL'd a few times. But for some reason the baddies just weren't very bad and the chase scene just ran out of gas. I am usually able (and willing) to suspend belief if I am invested in a story, but I found myself shaking my head and saying 'no way', one too many times.

The thing I liked least (read: hated!) was every time Virgil spoke to his maybe girl-friend and called her "Ma" . That was just wrong...

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

There were too many characters who were just not well-developed.

Which character – as performed by Eric Conger – was your favorite?

I did enjoy Anwan. I would actually like to see him again.

Could you see Storm Front being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I think Eric Christian Olsen from NCIS LA would make a good Virgil. I would love to see a Virgil movie, just not this one...

Any additional comments?

Virgil deserves better.
