This is the first book of the Immortals of New Orleans Series. It is Kade and Sydney's story narrated by Ryan West. I loved the story that developed between the two main characters. Sydney Willows is a tough detective who finds herself falling for uber vampire Kade Issacson while working together on a case to solve the murders of young women that indicate paranormal involvement. The book draws you in from the very beginning. The plot was intriguing which kept the story moving. The narration by Ryan West is one of my favorites. The variation of accents and inflection flowed effortlessly. Oddly, while reading the book, I didn't notice the number of F bombs Sydney drops until I listened to the audio version. It didn't distract from the story but added an element to Sydney's character. I recommend this book as well as the others in this series. Kym Grasso does an excellent job weaving the normal with the paranormal.
