Returning to Charm, North Carolina, for a fresh start on her wilting life is an easy decision for Everly, and opening a new seaside cafe and iced-tea shop puts the proverbial icing on her legendary lemon cakes. Everything is just peachy until a body turns up on the boardwalk outside her home and a jar of her proprietary tea is found at the victim's side. Now, Detective Grady Hays, Charm's newest and most mysterious lawman, has named Everly as his number-one suspect, and Everly's new start is about to go up in smoke unless she can dish up the real killer.

Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig. It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right? I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job? It turns out this place isn't a bar. It's a guild.

This was an unexpected surprise. I was hooked from the very beginning until the end. The characters are well developed. The witty dialogue is fresh and engaging. The plot is original and well written. I really like the relationship between Tori and the magical community. It's realistic and believable. I bought the next book before I finished the this one. I can't wait for the next book to see what Tori gets into next.

Portland, Oregon’s own best-selling romance author Olivia Novak should have been entering life’s third act with a sparkling-clean storybook Tudor, her first serious novel under her belt, and a real-life romance with her husband of 32 years. Instead, her husband was killed in a hit-and-run, a case the police have shelved, and she’s too worn out from her own obsessive three-year hunt for the culprit to write. Now, her mother has died.

This book is ok. This isn't the typical cozy mystery, in which, someone dies and the heroine seeks justice. This is more chick lit about 3 sisters coming together after the death of their parent. I finished it, but, it wasn't what I was expecting.

When I found myself facing down the scariest black-magic felon in the city, practically daring him to abduct me, I had to wonder exactly how I ended up here. It all started when I accidentally landed a job as a bartender - but not at a bar. At a guild, populated by mages, sorcerers, alchemists, witches, and psychics. Good thing this lame-o human is adaptable, right? Then my favorite guild members - three sexy, powerful, and intermittently charming mages - asked for my help.

Dead as a Door Knocker has several things wrong with it that prevented me from finishing this book. It has a slow pace, the lead character has too much inner monologue, the characters are flat and one dimensional and the author inserted the inner monologue of a cat. There are several other things that I found distasteful about this book, but, I don't want to waste anymore time on listing them. I begin skipping forward in chapter 3. I forced myself to listen to chapter 21 before I stopped listening.

So far Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing. Now Dory's vampire father has come back into her life. Her uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison.
