It's bad enough Jade Frost's boyfriend dragged her to a boring poker game. It's even worse that he actually threw her into the betting pot during an intense round - and lost. Talk about the perfect excuse for Jade to make him her ex-boyfriend. Now she supposedly belongs to the ultrarich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants, yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn't stop him.

Even during the holidays, Shannon is more spackle than sparkle, which is why she leaps at the chance to transform a grand old Victorian mansion into 10 charming apartments for homeless families. Filled with the spirit of the season, all of Lighthouse Cove turns out to help - including her best friends, a troupe of far-from-angelic Santa Claus impersonators, and her father, Jack. But their merriment is soon dashed by a heated scuffle between Jack and the miserly president of the bank who's backing the project.

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

Emi Harrison has avoided her ex-fiance, Jack Cabot, for nearly two years. Her twin brother Evan's wedding is about to end that streak. From bad bridesmaids' dresses, a hyperactive sister-in-law, a mean girl with even meaner secrets, and too much to drink, nothing seems to go right for Emi, except when she's wearing her little gray dress. When she speed-walks into Liam Jaxon's bar, things get more complicated. He's gorgeous, southern, and has no past with Emi. He may be exactly what she needs to prove for the last time that she doesn't need or want Jack!

Molly Harper brings her signature "clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists" ( Booklist) to the charming small town of Lake Sackett, Georgia with the new Southern Eclectic series. Carl and Marianne were high school sweethearts, loving the way only teenagers can - with no thought to logic or pride, just a bone-headed, optimistic frenzy of unicorns and hormones. That was all they needed. Or so Carl thought. Scared of being stuck in Lake Sackett, Georgia, like so many of her friends, Marianne panicked and bolted....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have enjoyed this series so far. I like the main character and her style of wit and mystery solving.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the ghosts in this one. The knight spooking all of the men was great.

Which character – as performed by Xe Sands – was your favorite?

I liked the confused knight. I really did. He was just perfect.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yup. I did.

Any additional comments?

While I had this one figured out pretty quick, I still enjoyed it. I would recommend it for some fun reading.

Where does The Séance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is ranks right in the middle of the audiobooks I've listened to so far.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I'm not sure what would have made it better. The double story lines were OK, but some of the characters were just plain annoying.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really liked the narration of this book. Her voices really brought the story more depth.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

It's a good "read" but a little disappointing in the character development.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This book could have been SO MUCH, but it wasn't. The narration was awful - there was no emotion or intensity at all. And Grey could have been such a deep character, instead he's a caricature of a self-loathing man. No depth.

What could E. L. James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I know it's just the same book from a different point of view, but it could have been written better. It seems so empty compared to the original book.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Oh God. He was so monotone. It was almost like he was reading an instruction manual.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Grey?

I don't know if I would have cut any scenes from Grey. I think the book as a whole stunk.

Any additional comments?

I would not purchase this book. And I do not plan on purchasing any of the future editions unless they change narrators.
