I really love this author and was so e. Tied to listen to this book. It started off great with the female narrator, but the male narrator is just awful and completely mismatched for the characters. I couldn’t even finish the book because of it. Very disappointed that I had to return.

Would you ever listen to anything by Mary Monroe again?

Not sure after this.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Dissapointment

Any additional comments?

I love this author but I really think she missed the mark with this follow up. The first book was great and left me wanting more and dying to know how the story would play out. This book did not provide any of that satisfaction. It was full of fillers and meaningless dialogue...I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of it just to see if anything was ever going to actually happen and it never did. Maybe this one will just be a trilogy and not a 12 book long saga. I won't be buying the next installment. At this point I really don't care what happens to Lola, Joan or Calvin anymore.

I really enjoyed this book. This book is a cautionary tale of where the dark spiral of revenge and deception can lead. It had suspense, drama, humor, deceit etc. The story line grabs you and doesn't let go until the last sentence has been read. The narrator Patricia R Floyd was great as usual. I highly recommend it!

This book was so good. I could not stop listening from start to finish. It is so well written and the characters are so well developed and animated. The narrator did a superb job as well. You know a book is good when you're sad that it's ending. I wish this author would write a sequel.

Would you try another book from Wahida Clark and/or Neicy Bethea?

Love Wahida Clark, but never want to listen to another book read by this narrator.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Neicy Bethea?

Honey Jones

Any additional comments?

I really wanted to get into this series but the narrator completely ruined that for me. She literally yelled throughout the whole book and sounded like she was smiling as she read. It was hard to take the story seriously. I see that the other books in this series have different narrators. Hopefully I'll be able to pick the story up from there but I will be returning this one.
