Calling all English majors who love Pratchett, Planer and summer!

Is there any character Nigel Planer cannot bring to life—rhetorical question! Of course not.

Granny and Ridculley what a hoot!

Thanks so much for all the laughs.

Not Pratchett maybe Spamalot

I was lured in by the review that said in the tradition of Terry Pratchett and Monty Python but this picaresque story is more Python than Pratchett.

No one can come close to Sir Terry but this is mildly amusing if occasionally sophomoric with too many references to scat and vomit than I enjoy.

However the narrator is superb at differentiation of voices and keeps it light and entertaining.

Just not my cup of tea.

Interesting story ruined by narrator

When narrating a story in English it is very distracting to use such a heavy French pronunciation of the names and locations. I found it so distracting and difficult to follow that I had to rewind and relisten to chapters several times to figure out what the heck was going on where and with whom. I am tempted to buy the paperback at Costco and return the audiobook because the story of this woman and her group needs to be known.

Wondered how she could beat Sea Biscuit, but she did it. Read this book!
BTW, I just left a holiday party in Torrance where another guest's father had gone to high school with Louie. She said when they met last year, he remembered some of their juvenile antics clearly and was a great guy.

I struggled through the first half of this book trying to like it because it was given such rave reviews, put it aside for several months, came back and liked the characters even less! Waste of my time and my monthly fee.
