After seven horrific months as a POW, Army Ranger turned PI Ben Lockwood just wants a safe, boring life. With his boss on vacation, he takes what looks like an easy case of pharmaceutical espionage he can work from his desk. Now, he's caught in a three-way collision course between a ruthless werewolf on the hunt for a cure for his dying vampire wife, a mad scientist whose multinational company doesn't even research supernatural medicine - and himself. Ben's nanotech-injected blood holds the key to the vampire's recovery.

Ben is an great character. (Really, this book is chock full of amazing characters) Poor Ben isn't dropped off in the deep end, no, he's fired out of a cannon, with anvils chained around his feet, into the Marianas trench.
No. Not literally. Although Julie does just about everything else to him.
I used to think that nobody could torture a character like Jim Butcher does to Harry Dresden. I'm sure Julie Frost read some of Jim's works and said, "Hold my beer." And then drug poor Ben over hundreds of pages of broken glass. Yet, she does such an amazing job, I kept turning the pages.
Yes, because I read this book long before it was in audio. This, was even BETTER!
Why haven't you downloaded it yet? Come on. Chop chop! This book isn't going to listen to itself.

Her Weekday Brides series, that gave birth to this, was great. But she just keeps getting better.
I have yet to find one of her series that I don't just tear through.
Bravo Catherine. Bravo.

As the daughter of a famed author, Isolde Ophelia Goodnight grew up on tales of brave knights and fair maidens. She never doubted romance would be in her future, too. The storybooks offered endless possibilities. And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one....Now Izzy's given up yearning for romance. She'll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished 26-year-old woman who's never even been kissed?

I loved this book. There are a few nods to her other series, but it also stands excellently on its own.
Romance, intrigue, family drama, this has it all.
The first book was great, but this really answered some questions that were left open.
I wanted to save this for my next day at work, when I would be driving a lot. But I started it while doing dishes the night before. And then I just couldn't stop. On most of my nights off when I'm home alone, I watch videos and do some gaming. This book devoured my entire night. I didn't want to stop. I had to, simply HAD to finish. It was that good. On the plus side, since I wasn't sitting all night, I got a lot of housework done, but also neglected working on a project that would have demanded all my attention.
So thank you Catherine Bybee, and, curse you.

I've waited for this for quite a while. And it doesn't disappoint. Granted, it's much shorter than the first two, but is every bit as enjoyable.
To start the book off with a wedding, honestly, I was horrified. But, this is Katie Graykowski, and The Marilyn's. I should have known that Charlie's friends wouldn't let us suffer through that. But of course, while it was the right decision to steal Charlie away before she could say, "I do" to simply secure her father's campaign donation, consequences ensue.
And when Mama Cherie is involved, you know it's about to go sideways.

Lacey Williams does an amazing job putting a modern spin on some classic fairytales, and then throwing in a cowboy twist. If you love happily ever after, finding love in unexpected places, and maybe the idea of a princess mucking out a stall, you're going to love these stories.

Sometimes, you really do have to lose everything before you know what is actually important enough to fight for it.
This was a great story about what it takes to overcome all the hurt you once caused.
Normally I'm not a fan of multiple narrators, but this was done brilliantly.
